3. Who We Are
EVHybridNoire envisions a world where all communities
are free of air pollution from cars and trucks, and everyone
can reap the benefits of electric vehicles and multimodal
e-mobility solutions.
VISION
EVHybridNoire’s mission is to advance electric vehicles and
multimodal e-mobility solutions across the U.S., and
ensure those solutions are inclusive and equitable.
MISSION
4. WHAT WE DO
Our work involves a mix of grassroots engagement; advocacy and
decision-maker education; media outreach; speaking
engagements; research and E-Mobility Fellowship Pipeline
program. That work spans many aspects of e-mobility and
equity, including workforce development, policy, public health,
research/data collection and analysis, multimodal mobility, e-
mobility fellowship pipeline program, and creative financing of
e-mobility solutions.
5. Equity-Centered
Research:
An Overview
Qualitative and quantitative methodologies, Qualtrics
software, visualization software, and more
HOW WE DO IT
Our work mainly focuses on reporting out findings on
behalf of clients and also disseminating knowledge in
impacted communities
WHAT WE DO
Our research focuses specifically on vulnerable
communities, so compiling our findings in compelling,
accurate ways is critical towards advancing solutions
WHY WE DO IT
6. TYPES OF RESEARCH
Landscape assessments
This type of research aims to understand factors
in the landscape that determine transportation
access, understand knowledge/attitdues/beliefs,
around clean transportation
In person research
Following "see, touch, feel" principle, this
type of research aims to assess impact
of promotional activities on EV
sentiments and beliefs
Market testing
Oftentimes, clients are interested in how certain
concepts/messages perform in groups. Our work
collects diverse communities together and tests these
concepts by segments
A foundational part of research at EVHN is
facilitating and building community trust. Clients
can contract with us to understand and assess
their engagement in terms of equity principles
Post event feedback
In order to improve programming, EVHN collects
post event feedback across all these areas and
more to assess and refine practices and
programming
Interpersonal/relationship analysis
8. KEY DIFFERENCES IN EVHN
WORK
Audience isn't data literate
Need to make data process high
integrity and broadly digestible
Projects are exploratory
Equity work is a new field in
transportation compared to traditional
data fields
Data is categorical/behavioral
Rather than collecting data on general
population, EVHN work is focused on
priority communities
Target groups are "niche"
Rarely are the variables we study
numerical based; however, we are
transitioning in that direct
9. BEST PRACTICES
Inclusion
Communities are not engaged because they are
not given meaningful opportunities to engage,
not because they lack interest or desire.
Meaningful Engagment
Hard-to-reach communities not only need
engagement, but meaningful
engagement to build trust and
sustainable change.
Engage the Right People
Those closest to the problem are also closest to
the solution.
Engage communities to advocate, legislate, and
dictate for themselves in the long run
Community Channels
Community members prefer receiving information
from individuals who are knowledgeable about the
topic and represent their communities.
Lasting Impact
