This document analyzes 97 visits to the emergency department by 74 centenarian patients in Salamanca, Spain in 2012. It finds that most patients were female (71%) and living in urban areas (54%). Common issues seen included injuries, circulatory problems, and respiratory diseases. Of the patients admitted to the hospital, 15.4% died during their stay, though none died in the emergency department. The care of centenarian patients is becoming more common in emergency rooms, and they tend to have multiple medical issues and take many medications.

The group of centenarian patients in Salamanca (2012)
amounted to 244 persons, 74% female and 26% male.

4. MATERIAL AND METHODS
Retrospective review of medical records of
centenarian patients seen in 2012. Data regarding
sex, age, background, medical history and patient
destination.
Descriptive summary of collected data is done

97 episodes (0.67 per thousand patients
treated) are reviewed, with a mean age
of 101 years, age rank 100-108.

11. CONCLUSIONS
-The centenarian patients care is becoming more
usual in Emergency Department.
-They are patient with high co morbidity and drug
use.
-The most common urgent diseases are orthopedic
injuries and diseases of the circulatory and
respiratory systems.
-A high proportion of patients died, almost half of
those who were admitted.
