This document provides an overview of SAP HANA Extended Application Services. It discusses the programming model, which pushes presentation logic to the client, control flow logic to HANA XS, and calculation logic directly to the HANA database. It describes the key aspects of the programming model including the repository for storing artifacts, built-in services, and lightweight architecture. The document concludes with a roadmap outlining future plans for additional functionality.

Q&A
I have compiled a list of FAQs I have received during several customer meetings I had on SAP HANA. They are pretty basic but cover most of the baseline. I have also presented this during the Technology & Mobility Forum in Istanbul on 1st June 2012.
Definition - What does SAP HANA mean?
SAP HANA is an application that uses in-memory database technology that allows the processing of massive amounts of real-time data in a short time. The in-memory computing engine allows HANA to process data stored in RAM as opposed to reading it from a disk. This allows the application to provide instantaneous results from customer transactions and data analyses.
HANA stands for high-performance analytic appliance.
SUMTWO explains SAP HANA
SAP HANA is designed to process structured data from relational databases, both SAP and non-SAP, and applications and other systems rapidly. It is capable of using three styles of data replication depending on the source of the data - log-based, ETL-based and trigger-based. The relocated structured data is stored directly in memory. Because of this, data can be accessed quickly in real time by the applications that use HANA.
SAP HANA supports various use cases for real-time analytics. Some examples include:
•Monitoring and optimization of telecommunications network
•Supply chain and retail optimization
•Fraud detection and security
•Forecasting and profitability reporting
•Energy use optimization and monitoring
The heart of SAP HANA Enterprise 1.0 is the SAP In-Memory Database 1.0, a massively parallel processing data store that melds row-based, column-based, and object-based storage techniques. Other components of SAP HANA Enterprise 1.0 include:
• SAP In-Memory Computing Studio,
• SAP Host Agent 7.2,
• SAPCAR 7.10,
• Sybase Replication Server 15,
• SAP HANA Load Controller 1.00, and,
• SAP Landscape Transformation 1 - SHC for ABA.
14 Haziran 2012 tarihinde Sybase Türkiye tarafından yapılan PowerDesigner etkinliğinde, PowerDesigner'in SAP içindeki stratejik yol haritası hakkında temel bilgiler
The material was created around 2010-end, but published February'2011.
The main purposes of creating this document were as follows:
- very very few people working on SAP HANA at that time
- information regarding SAP HANA not really available and if available, it was scattered !!
- always pulled for presentations and technical demos which generally hampered my own hands-on work :). And I was alone at San Jose whereas Ulrich used to busy in Walldorf coordinating with SAP.
BTW, it was my full-fledged first SAP HANA presentation in end of 2010, although published in 2011. The document is quite old now but most of the part still holds good as of today.
How SAP Leonardo is empowering animal wellbeing (Leon / Harmen)Twan van den Broek
SAP Inside Track NL talk by Leon Moltzer/ Harmen Werkman
Next to supplying Water to end-customers, the European Bison (Wisent) is also one of the ‘biggest’ responsibilities of PWN. Besides being the 2nd biggest water company in the Netherlands they also maintain two National Parks including the animals living in it. This specific client case is inspired on a hackathon organized by PWN. One of the questions remained was how all data possibly generated from their National Park could be leveraged in SAP and how to analyze and transform it to actual value. This session shows how SAP Leonardo can enable a solution using IOT and UI5 to analyze and improve the wellbeing of the European Bisons.

Beyond OData introducing the xmla model for ui5 (Roland Bouwman)Twan van den Broek
SAP Inside Track talk by Roland Bouwman.
We developed a UI5 model (and bindings) that allows developers to build OLAP applications on XML/A providers (including but not limited to SAP/HANA). The model supports databinding so you can build rich, true OLAP ui5 clients. The XML/A model for UI5 is based on the open source Xmla4js library.
(We’re currently working to release our XML/A model for ui5 as open source shortly)
Blockchain technology is increasingly being considered for applications in business contexts due to its key properties. It is also very much hyped for its potential to transform existing industries and business models. In Part 1, we will introduce the key properties of blockchain, its limitations, the field and the relevance for SAP and enterprises in general. In Part 2, we will focus on one of the prominent suites available today and provide an demonstration of the POC we’ve developed.
No organization can thrive, or even survive, without innovation. In an environment of increasing competitive and market pressure cycles have to be faster which means innovation can no longer be centralized. It can´t be done exclusively from the top, by a few individuals or a dedicated department. When innovation has to be everyone’s job, it has to become a mindset and central part of an organizations DNA. That´s why building an innovation culture is key. One of the most important drivers of an innovation culture is diversity and inclusiveness. This presentation will discuss leadership techniques we can all apply to support continuous innovation while increasing employee engagement and customer loyalty.
The importance of applying SAP patches (Joris van de Vis)Twan van den Broek
Most of us apply the monthly patches for our Operating system (Macbooks, windows systems, etc). But what about the monthly security patches for our SAP systems?
Many SAP running organisations don't do this as regular as they should. Some topics I'd like to discuss with the audience are;
- Why don't they do that?
- What are the risks involved?
- How to improve things?
