This study analyzed the relationship between occupational exposure to crystalline silica and asbestos and risk of kidney cancer in Canadian men. The study found that workers exposed to silica did not have an increased risk of kidney cancer. Workers exposed to asbestos did have a higher odds of kidney cancer, with the odds increasing with higher levels of exposure. Specifically, workers with any history of asbestos exposure had increased odds, and odds were higher with higher attained concentrations of exposure, though not significantly. Increasing BMI was associated with increased kidney cancer risk, while smoking was not.
