The cassowary is a large, flightless bird found in New Guinea and northern Australia. It has black feathers with a blue neck, red wattle, and brown helmet and bill, stands 5 to 6 feet tall and weighs around 154 pounds. As a herbivore, it eats fruit and protects itself by kicking with its 5 inch long claws. Cassowaries lay 3-8 eggs in various colors and live year-round in tropical rainforests, though they are currently endangered.
