A 16-year-old boy accused of strangling his adoptive parents and hiding their bodies in the family car is to be tried as an adult, a judge has ruled. Karate black belt Moses Kamin allegedly admitted to killing his parents - Robert Kamin, 55, and Susan Poff , 50, after officers discovered their bodies in Oakland, California. Judge Morris Jacobson of Alameda County Superior Court has ruled their is enough evidence to hold the teenager - who was 15 at the time of his parents' deaths in January - over for trial. The youngster is being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on October 3, the

reports. Moses Kamin, of Oakland, California, entered a not guilty plea in Alameda County Superior Court earlier this year. He apparently admitted strangling his mother first with his hands and then some type of ligature during the argument.When Mr Kamin came home later that evening, the teen came up behind him and strangled him as well, prosecutors claim.The couple’s bodies were found hidden under blankets in the back of the family's car parked outside their house near Lake Merritt, which investigators believe Kamin had tried unsuccessfully to set ablaze.Police went to the Kamin house after their employers reported they did not show up for work. Kendrick is a 22-year-old African American college senior who has come in to see you as a result of his

class in the past two weeks, is not eating, and only sleeps when he cries himself to the point of
exhaustion or when he self-medicates with large quantities of alcohol. Kendrick lives alone, having
shared his apartment with Stephanie prior to the breakup. He acknowledges that he is in complete
despair and has now been contacted by his academic advisor, who let him know if he does not rebound
quickly, he is at risk of failing his final courses, not graduating on time, and losing the job he has already
been hired for post-graduation.
Despite his struggles to cope, Kendrick denies any current suicidal ideation or desire to harm himself or

History
Kendrick is a National Merit Scholar who came to college on a full academic scholarship. He majored in
aerospace engineering and has spent the past two summers interning for a company that has already
offered him a full-time position upon graduation at the end of the term.
Kendrick met Stephanie in one of his first-semester engineering courses. They sat next to each other in
class and soon became study partners. Within two months they were dating exclusively and spent nearly
every moment together. While both lived in the university dorms their first year, they chose to get an
apartment together starting their sophomore year, and they lived together until two weeks ago when
Stephanie moved out.
Since the beginning of his relationship with Stephanie, Kendrick has been socially isolated. While he did
come to college with a few close friends and is only two hours away from home, he has not maintained
connections with his high school friends and has not made regular visits home. In fact, Kendrick reports
that his parents came to “resent” Stephanie because they saw her as “keeping him away,” so he has

Colleen’s current trouble is centered on a neighbor’s dispute about her dog. After the dog bit the neighbor, the neighbor threatened and attempted to take the dog to animal control. When the neighbor later found Colleen and the dog trespassing on her property, the neighbor verbally threatened to “get” them both. Apparently, the neighbor set fire to a scarecrow on her property to emphasize her point.
At this point, Colleen threw a nearby bucket of liquid on the neighbor. The liquid was later determined to be a pesticide. A 16-year-old boy accused of strangling his adoptive parents and hiding their bodies in the family car is to be tried as an adult, a judge has ruled. Karate black belt Moses Kamin allegedly admitted to killing his parents - Robert Kamin, 55, and Susan Poff , 50, after officers discovered their bodies in Oakland, California. Judge Morris Jacobson of Alameda County Superior Court has ruled their is enough evidence to hold the teenager - who was 15 at the time of his parents' deaths in January - over for trial. The youngster is being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on October 3, the

Kendrick is a 22-year-old African American college senior who has come in to see you as a result of his

class in the past two weeks, is not eating, and only sleeps when he cries himself to the point of
exhaustion or when he self-medicates with large quantities of alcohol. Kendrick lives alone, having
shared his apartment with Stephanie prior to the breakup. He acknowledges that he is in complete
despair and has now been contacted by his academic advisor, who let him know if he does not rebound
quickly, he is at risk of failing his final courses, not graduating on time, and losing the job he has already

History
Kendrick is a National Merit Scholar who came to college on a full academic scholarship. He majored in
aerospace engineering and has spent the past two summers interning for a company that has already
offered him a full-time position upon graduation at the end of the term.
Kendrick met Stephanie in one of his first-semester engineering courses. They sat next to each other in
class and soon became study partners. Within two months they were dating exclusively and spent nearly
every moment together. While both lived in the university dorms their first year, they chose to get an
apartment together starting their sophomore year, and they lived together until two weeks ago when
Stephanie moved out.
Since the beginning of his relationship with Stephanie, Kendrick has been socially isolated. While he did
come to college with a few close friends and is only two hours away from home, he has not maintained
connections with his high school friends and has not made regular visits home. In fact, Kendrick reports
that his parents came to “resent” Stephanie because they saw her as “keeping him away,” so he has
largely cut off communication with them. Kendrick reports that he did not feel coerced to cut out his

Alcorn's suicide highlighted the negative attitudes and discrimination that transgender individuals face from society, which causes some parents to discourage gender transitions in order to protect their children from rejection. Facts of the Case:
Defendant was born in the Midwest into a fundamentalist family. He was always painfully shy and suffered from low
self-esteem. As a child, he was molested by a neighbor. First, his father left the home. Then, after a bitter divorce, his
mother took his brother, and left Defendant with his father. His parents weren’t speaking and Defendant didn’t even
know how to contact his mother and brother. Defendant’s history of abandonment left him with feelings of loss and
rejection.
When young, Defendant impaled the heads of animals he killed on stakes in his yard. He collected dead animals and

A high school freshman creates a fake social media account for the purpose of tricking
another student. The fake account is used to show romantic interest in the targeted
teen, and many deceptive techniques are used to make the targeted teen think that the
fake account actually belongs to a real person. The holder of the fake account
eventually reveals the trick, posting screenshots on a popular social media platform of
embarrassing texts and admissions by the targeted teen. A few days later, the targeted
teen waits for the cyberbully outside of school and physically attacks the cyberbully,
sending the cyberbully to the hospital. The parents of the cyberbully want to press
charges against the targeted teen.
Week 3
Before the beginning of a school day, law enforcement arrest a 15-year-old student who
attends the local high school. Students, teachers, and even family members describe
the student as a “loner.” Some students do not even recognize the student, while others
are unaware of his name or refer to him in derogatory terms. The student does have a
small group of fellow students with whom he socializes sometimes during lunch, but it’s
unclear whether these are friendships outside of school. Teachers describe the student

In fact, he indicated a bizarre and morbid fascination with their death. The violence committed by Rick continued to progress and, by the age of 13, Rick had coerced one of his 9-year-old female cousins into sexual intercourse. In fact, he had done this on three different occasions, and, were it not for another family member accidentally walking in on the third circumstance of victimization, it is unknown how many times he would have done that. This was reported to the authorities and Rick was charged with this offense in juvenile court.

Rick is a 16-year-old male who has had numerous encounters with law enforcement. Currently, Rick is on juvenile probation and attends an alternative school. Among other things, Rick was diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in his early childhood. Rick’s parents have brought Rick in for counseling to your office because even they do not believe that his probation supervision is sufficiently restrictive. Rick has routinely been in trouble at school and in the community. He surrounds himself with a number of younger youth who look up to his acts of violence and intimidation. Rick also experiences periods of very serious anger and is given to outbursts when he is frustrated. He has been known to hit other kids when he is angry and he has even made threats at teachers during his periods of intense fury. Rick is also very good at lying. He lies constantly about his whereabouts and is difficult to locate. He is fond of going from house to house and friend to friend. He also stays out late despite his parent’s attempts to keep him from doing so. He breaks the city ordinance curfew for juveniles. In fact, two nights ago Rick was reportedly out in a neighborhood at 2:00 a.m. with some other youth, drinking beer and beating mailboxes with an aluminum bat. One of the girls who was with the group told him that he was immature and he should stop. Rick called her a number of inappropriate names and then threw a brick at the girl, luckily he missed. At age 11, Rick was diagnosed with conduct disorder in addition to his diagnosis of ADHD. He exhibited acts of cruelty toward pets and other animals and seemed indifferent to the pain they suffered. In fact, he indicated a bizarre and morbid fascination with their death. The violence committed by Rick continued to progress and, by the age of 13, Rick had coerced one of his 9-year-old female cousins into sexual intercourse. In fact, he had done this on three different occasions, and, were it not for another family member accidentally walking in on the third circumstance of victimization, it is unknown how many times he would have done that. This was reported to the authorities and Rick was charged with this offense in juvenile court.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 1. CASE STUDY ONE: COLLEEN M. Colleen M. is a 15-year-old Caucasian girl. She has lived in the state for her entire life. Her father abandoned the family when she was an infant and her mother is currently in a drug rehabilitation facility. Colleen has been living on a farm with her aunt. Although she has no prior contact with the law, she admits to having run away from her aunt in the past, though she always returned on her own. Colleen’s current trouble is centered on a neighbor’s dispute about her dog. After the dog bit the neighbor, the neighbor threatened and attempted to take the dog to animal control. When the neighbor later found Colleen and the dog trespassing on her property, the neighbor verbally threatened to “get” them both. Apparently, the neighbor set fire to a scarecrow on her property to emphasize her point. At this point, Colleen threw a nearby bucket of liquid on the neighbor. The liquid was later determined to be a pesticide. The pesticide burned the skin on contact and triggered an extreme allergic reaction in the neighbor, resulting in her death. Colleen was charged with involuntary manslaughter and was determined delinquent by the court. Colleen claims that she was simply attempting to douse the fire. Coincidentally, a few weeks prior, Colleen had been a passenger of a motor home that had collided with a vehicle driven by the neighbor’s sister. This accident resulted in the neighbor’s sister’s death, though it was ruled an accidental homicide. Witnesses report that Colleen took a pair of fancy shoes off the feet of the corpse and immediately put them on her own feet. Colleen defends her actions by claiming that an observer told her to do this.
- 2. At the time of her arrest, Colleen’s blood tested positive for opiates. Colleen claims that while traveling with three homeless men, they unknowingly stumbled upon a field of poppies and that before they knew it; the intoxicating aroma caused her to pass out. Colleen claims not to have a drug problem. Colleen states that all she wants to do now is go home and that she misses her Aunt Emily. CASE STUDY TWO: XANDER L. Xander L . is a 17-year-old African American male and documented gang member. His prior juvenile adjudications include purse snatching, breaking and entering, and drug possession. His first juvenile adjudication occurred when he was 13 years old. He has served a year of custody in the juvenile correctional facility and has been placed on probation twice previously. His latest arrest is for possession of a concealed weapon, to which he has pled guilty. Xander lives with his mother in the housing projects. He reports no contact with his father. His mother presently works two jobs. Although she is supportive of him, and Xander reports a close relationship with his mother, she does not approve of his conduct. In the past, she has reported him to the police. Xander indicates that he has dropped out of high school, but would like to get his general equivalency diploma to make his mother proud.
