2. Captain Moonlite was born in Ireland on
the 8th of January 1845 and his real
name was Andrew George Scott. He was
the son of Thomas Scott.
3. Scott's life of crime first began in the
year 1869, when he was still a preacher
at a small church in the town of Egerton
in Victoria. He admired the Ned Kelly
Gang and from that point decided to
become a bushranger himself.
4. His first crime was robbing the local bank
of more than a thousand pounds. The
bank manager who knew Scott well,
could not believe what had happened,
but was told to tell the police that it was
all the doing of Captain Moonlight.
5. The bank manager told the police that he
was sure that the robber was Scott. When
later contradicted of his crime, Scott
pleaded innocent and was passed on as
no money was found on his property.
6. Captain Moonlight was sentenced to be
hung on the 20th of January 1880 in
Darlinghurst, Sydney. His final words
were that he buried next to his beloved
James Nesbitt.
7. After about 100 years Scott was finely
buried next to his partner in crime James
Nesbitt.
