Western Canadians enjoy the products of the large ranches and farms in that part of the country. Barbecued food, beef, and corn dishes, such as Sweet Corn
Pancakes, are popular. Berries such as blueberries and saskatoon berries, are popular accompaniments to pancakes, waffles, and are often made into syrups,
jams and preserves.

13. Canadian dress
Contents
Traditional dress in Canada has long been based on the need to maintain safety from the cold.
Though today's average Canadian dresses like any other western culture individual, this has not
always been the case. The native cultures often wore animal skins to remain warm. Later, once
they were able to grow cotton, this became an important tool for remaining warm. Much of the
fancy clothing from the 17th and 18th centuries were styled in British or French styles. Gowns,
lavishly trimmed, and male waistcoats were popular. Most people could not afford this and
worn simple clothing, often in layers.

Dear Summer
I’ve really miss you since I’ve been in Canada. I have been skiing as much as I can
and have been to Whistler village to get you a present. As I’m writing this I am driving
to the docks for my crusie back to New Zealand. The cruise is going to be so much fun.
I’m going to try and swim every day for the whole cruise. I have heard about your trip
so I decided to tell you about mine. I am going to have to talk to you when we get
home because I won’t receive any of your letters when I’m on the ship.
From your BFF Samara
