This document describes a pilot program called TANGO that was designed to pair English and Spanish students for online intercultural communication and language practice. The program was developed by Carmen Álvarez-Mayo and piloted in 2013-2014 with students at the University of Oviedo in Spain and the University of York in England. Through a series of topic-based tasks on the TANGO websites, students practiced their language skills, developed intercultural competence, and reflected on their learning experiences in an autonomous yet guided manner. Feedback was gathered from participating students and colleagues about their experiences in the program.
