Camerawork and Editing Notes
Camerawork Close-ups must predominate due to: The size of the screen To create a sense of intimacy for the viewer (notion of looking) Emphasises half of the commodity on sale (not just the song, but the artist, and particularly the voice)
Camerawork High angle/low angle shots to represent who’s most powerful out of the characters Aerial shot stationary or spinning – spinning aerial shot or wire underneath mic on grass/leaves on the floor to end video Field shot – camera three yards away = character looks alone and isolated Tracking shots to follow artists, cutting from angle they’re being tracked from Close-ups with artist = size of screen/creates intimacy with viewer
Editing Fast cut montage Images impossible to grasp on first viewing Ensures multiple viewing Slow pace and gentler transitions to establish mood Editing to visuals to match music (on the beat and lyrics, fast and regular Digital effects: split screens, colourisation, enhancing colour
Editing Fragment the artists face and cut them together – could also use sections of their hands and costumer, then use this in a fast pace montage Digital effects – change filter over lighting = colourisation = completely red/blue etc Split screen, join two shots together – half of each the characters face’s with similar background
