Position: The position is hosted in the Department of International and Transcultural Studies at Teachers College,
Columbia University, New York. It is also supported by the Middle East Institute at Columbia University and the Sheikh
Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Responsibilities: Teach two graduate-level courses on education in the Middle East in the program of International and
Comparative Education and a third graduate-level course on a topic related to international and comparative education or
anthropology and education for masters and doctoral students at Teachers College, the School of International and Public
Affairs, and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University. In addition, the faculty member is expected
to carry out at least one month of field research each year in Ras Al Khaimah and contribute to scholarship on education
in the UAE through an annual presentation and working paper. Travel and accommodation will be covered by the Al
Qasimi Foundation. The Al Qasimi Foundation is known for conducting and promoting high-quality research to inform
public policy in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
