Smriti Sharma_Letter of Appreciation
1. March 28, 2016
Ms. Smriti Sharma
CERDEC
Dear Smriti,
On behalf of the Monmouth Junior Science Symposium (MJSS) Executive Committee, the
students and teachers, I wish to thank you for finding time from your busy schedule to review the
research papers submitted by the academically talented and scientifically inclined students who
participated in the 2016 MJSS.
The Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) is a highly accomplished national
program that sets a standard for academic excellence. It connects researchers and educators
located in university settings, government laboratories and private research centers with talented
and motivated high school students and their teachers. Every year, more than 10,000 students
participate in the forty-eight Regional Symposiums held on university campuses across the
country including Alaska, Puerto Rico and the Department of Defense schools in Europe and the
Pacific. Participating in the JSHS program offers students and their teachers many benefits.
The major objectives of the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium program are:
To promote research and experimentation in the sciences, mathematics, and
engineering at the high school level.
To recognize the significance of research in human affairs and the importance of
humane and ethical principles in the application of research results.
To search out talented youth and their teachers, recognize their accomplishments at
symposia, and encourage their continued interest and participation in the sciences,
mathematics, and engineering.
To expand the horizons of research oriented students by exposing them to
opportunities in the academic, industrial and governmental communities.
To increase the number of future adults capable of conducting research and
development.
Sincerely,
