The Calibration Home Base (CHB) is an optical laboratory for calibrating imaging spectrometers in the visible to shortwave infrared range (VNIR/SWIR). It was partly funded by ESA to calibrate the airborne sensor APEX. The CHB can precisely characterize sensors up to 350 kg across 380-2500nm. It uses national radiance standards to radiometrically calibrate sensors. The CHB aims to characterize various sensor artifacts and effects like polarization and stray light. It serves both research and commercial customers.

These slides use concepts from my (Jeff Funk) course entitled analyzing hi-tech opportunities to analyze how Light Field Technology is becoming economic feasible for an increasing number of applications. Light Field Cameras record all of the light fields in a picture instead of just one light field. This capability enables users to change the focus of pictures after they have been taken and to more easily record 3D data. These features are becoming economically feasible improvements because of rapid improvements in camera chips and micro-lens arrays (an example of micro-electronic mechanical systems, MEMS). These features offer alternative ways to do 3D sensing for automated vehicles and augmented reality and can enable faster data collection with telescopes.
Optical test equipment or optical measurement equipment are used to measure and characterize the physical properties of light. The insatiable demand for higher capacity in communication networks has fueled the need for highly precise optical test solutions. In addition, precision optical measurements are essential to optical research applications for Defence communication, mobile communication, environmental sensing, and consumer products.
R&D engineers, academic researchers, manufacturing engineers, and field service personnel depend on precision optical test equipment to ensure design and performance specifications, production quality, and network health. For more than 10 years, Neometrix has delivered quality, consistency, ease of use, and market leadership for optical test applications.

Development of a Multichannel Analyzer for Radioactive Isotopes Detectionijtsrd
This report is a summary of work carried out at Defence Laboratory DRDO Jodhpur during internship as a part of Masters of Computer Application. The report is the brief description of study about the Multichannel Analyzer and crystallization of work. The work helps in developing insight on a state of the robust technology MCA to identify radioisotopes during the nuclear emergency. Study of Multichannel Analyzer is in the way that it would be able to store the spectrum that is to be displayed. Ferventness of MCA spectrum is classified further in two parts respectively which are Energy spectrum that is Calibrated and Pulse Height spectrum which is non calibrated. A new approach to problem solving is in the direction of feasible survey, and in addition to this requires a remarkably low down time by measuring the spectrum pattern on site in nuclear emergency. The solution is the so called near field spectrum pattern measurement method, which requires mathematical parameters and algorithms. Calibration Home Base
Calibration Home Base for Imaging Spectrometers
The Calibration Home Base (CHB) is an optical laboratory designed for the calibration of imaging spectrometers
for the VNIR/SWIR wavelength range. It was partly funded by ESA to establish a calibration facility for the
airborne imaging spectrometer APEX, but is used for other optical sensors as well. Radiometric, spectral and
geometric calibration as well as the characterization of sensor signal dependency on polarization are realized in
a precise and highly automated fashion. This allows carrying out a wide range of time consuming measurements
in an efficient way. The implementation of ISO 9001 standards in all procedures ensures a traceable quality of
results.
The CHB is the only facility in Europe which allows precise characterization of bulky and heavy instruments up to
350 kg in a wide spectral range from 380 - 2500 nm. Radiance sources traceable to national standard (PTB) are
used for radiometric calibration. In particular for instruments with large aperture or large field of view, a large
integrating sphere is available.
Sensor artifacts, such as caused by stray light will be characterizable and correctable in the near future. For now,
the CHB is suitable for the characterization of pushbroom sensors, spectrometers and cameras. However, it is
planned to extend the CHBs capabilities such that snapshot hyperspectral imagers can be characterized as well.
For technical details of the laboratory see link on the right.
The calibration services of the CHB are open to third party customers from research institutes as well as industry.
