This document analyzes telephone traffic in Ecuador using a discrete Markov chain model. It provides statistics on the mobile and fixed telephone subscribers distributed among different providers. A transition matrix models the probability of subscribers switching between providers over time. The matrix is raised to a high power to find the steady state probabilities, representing long-term expected market shares. The results show the largest provider Claro maintaining dominance while Movistar's share decreases slightly and the smaller provider CNT Mobile reduces its market share over time. Fixed line providers may have an opportunity to grow their subscribers or traffic under this model.
