Crown Agents has a long history working for overseas governments and administrations dating back to the 1700s. It began as private agents for British colonies and gradually took on more official roles working directly with colonial governments. In the post-colonial era beginning in the 1950s, Crown Agents expanded its work with developing countries and international donors. Today it has over 1,000 staff working in over 40 offices worldwide providing procurement, supply chain, and public finance management services. Crown Agents has worked with the Government of Japan since the 1980s on non-project grant aid programs, humanitarian assistance, and other projects.

Mubuyu Farm
Coffee farm established in 1971 that produces high grade
Arabic coffee for export.
Purchases included four tractors and six knapsacks sprayers.
Equipment assisted the company’s programme of quality
control & harvesting.
Tractors increased speed of collection & allowed manual
workers to move quickly onto next stage of production.

Syringa Enterprises
Nationwide-based farming company established in
1980.
Produces soya-beans, milk, wheat & sugar for local
market, and coffee for export.
Irrigation equipment was purchased for sugar cane
& coffee crops.
Equipment made a significant import helping
increase the yield of crops & lead to employment of
additional estate staff.

15. PHILIPPINES CVF Funded Computers in
the Philippines
The CVFs from the 4th grant were used to
supply computers to 1,000 high schools.
The Department of Finance oversaw the
collection of the CVs, The Department of
Trade and Industry dealt with the purchase
of the computers and the Department of
Education selected the recipient schools.
The Government hoped this new
generation will be the catalyst that
produces a strong Filipino information
technology sector.

4 year programme 2004-2007.
Sectors and expected benefits
– Health – repair of 12 hospitals and equipping of 32 primary health care centres and
strengthening emergency health care response/patient transportation. Ambulances.
– Communications – repair of telecomm network throughout Iraq benefiting 50% of the
population.
– Sanitation/Environment – improving the collection and processing of waste
(solid and sewage), cleaning of streets and the transport of drinking water. Also providing
equipment to provide drinking water.
– Security – improving security by re-equipping the police and border enforcement service
with new police cars and also supply fire engines
– Power – improving the generation of electricity by the refurbishment of part of 3 power stations
and also improving distribution of electricity. Building a new power station in Samawah.
