The BYTE project, initiated in March 2014 and funded by DG-CNCT, aims to establish a roadmap and community to address societal externalities related to big data over a three-year period. Key outcomes include defining necessary research efforts, creating policy measures for responsible big data participation, and forming a cross-disciplinary community involving policymakers, industry, and academia. The project will leverage case studies, stakeholder engagement, and foresight exercises to develop both research and policy roadmaps for maximizing positive externalities and minimizing negative impacts of big data in Europe.
