BYOT stands for "Bring Your Own Technology" and refers to a club that allows students to bring their personal electronic devices like iPods, iPhones, and tablets to school. The purpose of the BYOT club is to educate students about apps that can be useful for schoolwork and projects. The club introduces one or two new apps every two weeks that students can use on their devices, such as Animoto which allows creating videos by combining photos, text, and music. Benefits of BYOT include learning new tech skills that aid education, gaining more tools for school projects, and feeling more comfortable finding tech solutions. A challenge is that students can't use their new apps in class daily to fully learn the tools.

2. What is BYOT?
BYOT “Bring Your Own Technology” is a technology
club for students. On days we have BYOT Club, we are
allowed to bring our technology to school, which
includes Ipods, Iphones, Ipads, tablets, etc.
The purpose of this club is to educate students about
APPs that are useful to school work and education. APPs
can offer multiple solutions for school projects.

3. What is Our Club BYOT^4?
BYOT^4 is a club that we do every 2 weeks after school.
Each session introduces us to one or two new APPs that
are available on devices.
Some of the APPs we use are really useful and fun. One
of my favorite APPs is Animoto, which provides a way to
take pictures from my device and add text plus music to
create a custom video! I can use this tool for personal
fun or to create a video for a school project.

4. Benefits from BYOT
Benefits from BYOT include…
 Learning new technology that will benefit my
education and schoolwork. BYOT introduces
technology that is frequently new information to me
and my parents.
 New APPs give me a larger “toolbox” to use when
completing school projects.
 The BYOT Club makes students more comfortable
with finding new technology to solve problems.

5. Challenges of BYOT…
Challenges of BYOT for students include the inability to
use phones, ipods, tablets, etc, in class on a daily basis.
Since we can’t use our new APPs in school, we can’t
become good at using these great new tools!
