Energy in the future. Nordic GreenTransitionvidespolitika
Oslo's vision is for the city to have zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The city has set targets to cut emissions 50% by 2030 and be fossil-free by 2050. Oslo developed its climate and energy strategy through collaboration with stakeholders. The strategy focuses on energy efficiency in buildings, switching to renewable heating sources, banning oil boilers by 2020, and increasing use of local renewable energy and waste heat. Oslo aims to test and showcase electrification of transport through electric vehicles and intends to have 100% of new cars be electric or hydrogen by 2025. Public transit will use renewable fuels by 2020. The experiences from Oslo's transition can inform other cities' efforts to shift to renewable energy and reduce emissions.
