This report highlights some of the most popular business trends of the particular point in time in which I wrote this. Spotting out trends is particularly important because it not only proves that you are aware of evolving markets, but also because you develop a keen observation for viable niche markets.

Trends and their Windows of Opportunity
The best business ideas are often born from keen observation to daily struggles
and how society deals with them on a daily basis. When an opportunity arises in our
awareness, it is a potential solution to a more practical way to doing something.
Depending on economic forces, social forces, technological advances and
political/regulatory changes is when we evaluate whether an opportunity is feasible,
practical or even capable of yielding profits. Trends in these sectors significantly
motivate the direction of entrepreneurial ideas.
One of the largest movements in technological history and a currently explosive
trend is the advancement towards central server data storage, otherwise known as the
iCloud. This trend is changing the way society feels about technology because instead of
our photos, emails, documents, etc. being saved on our individual devices, it is now saved
on a gigantic central server hosted by Apple, Android, or whoever your provider of
gadgets may be. This in and of itself has not only increased the job market for network
security engineers, but has given birth to an entirely new level of data security. Therefore
it is because of this new trend that new jobs have been created and a new industry of
highly sophisticated security is being researched. Like any young movement in
technology, there are always risks of data being leaked by hackers seeing that the cloud
server movement is premature. Perhaps a business opportunity in this particular sector
would be an app that can serve as a liaison between ones individual device and the cloud.
This app could provide individuals with details of what information they are sending to
the cloud servers as well as give them options as to what they rather keep private.
Typically people either have the option of syncing their information to the cloud or not at
all, so this application will give them the liberty to only backup the data they see fit. This

2. idea will also create hundreds of opportunities to the individuals who make different
variations of this application.
A second popular trend is a mixture of economical and social changes, and this is
the movement towards cleaner energy. After many years of pollution from immense
factories, oil spills, and historic glaciers melting, America has finally realized its time for
a new trend towards a healthier planet. If one delicately observes social trends, one will
notice that as the trend for cleaner energy becomes more and more popular so does the
movement towards eating cleaner. This clever parallel marketing tactic could be being
implemented to gear individuals to buy healthier (and also more expensive) “organic”
foods to remain faithful to their ideologies of a healthier planet, and because most people
are aware of the pollution these immense factories emit. So, the business opportunity at
hand here would have to do with motivating people towards the use of individualized
wind turbines or solar panels in their homes. Perhaps a business idea to take advantage of
within this trend would be a smaller version of a solar panel or turbine to be used as an
extension to an already existing home powering unit. When the individual notices a drop
in their electricity bill due to the extension unit, it will create a more positive light for in-
home use of natural energy and therefore stimulate more purchasing and engineering of
these individualized versions of natural energy.
A last trend growing within the economic industry is the use of a Bitcoin. The
Bitcoin is a form of virtual currency invented in the last year, and as September of 2014
one Bitcoin is valued at $479 US dollars. Small businesses, teenagers, and ordinary
people like using Bitcoin to make virtual investments because there are no credit card
fees, there is no way to trace back a Bitcoin, and there is no way to trace the location of a
purchase because everything is entirely anonymous. The individual only has what’s
called a “Wallet ID” where all their Bitcoins are saved. Bitcoins are acquired through
“data mining”, or solving complex math and programming problems through thousands
of lines of software. This trend is young and very unstable even in its own trading market,
thus birthing ample opportunities for improvement. One business idea to improve the
stability of this currency would be to privatize all individuals’ “wallets” into a large bank-
like database and forming a governmental agency to govern this. This would not only
stabilize the currency, but also soothe the current anxieties of government officials

3. resulting in longer and more efficient success.
Conclusively, trends occurring in economic, social, political and technological
advances play a significant role in the upbringing of business ideas and opportunities.
These trends serve as the engine propelling society towards a more stable and practical
future, and its up to our entrepreneurs to move us in the right direction.
