Building a Unified Product Content Strategy | Quentin DietrichLavaConConference
In this session, you’ll learn about the challenges and victories as we worked to build a unified product content practice at an enterprise software company. We took a help documentation team, and from there grew the content practice to influence, drive, and unify content throughout the entire product ecosystem. Many times, it can be hard to know where to start. We’ll share the steps we took and the lessons learned as we reimagined our content practice.
In this session, attendee’s will learn:
Creating a product content style guide
Connecting content through the product ecosystem
Refining your product creation process
Influencing and content decisions across the organization
Working in an agile environment with few resources
Consulting to Product Management - How to Make a Successful TransitionProduct School
Jordan discussed the transition from Consulting into Product Management. He walked through the key consulting skills that transfer across and those that don't, as well as unexpected areas that will require a steep learning curve. Based on his experience and lessons learned, Jordan provided insights on how to make this transition as frictionless as possible.
3-5 Main Points / Key Takeaways:
Some consulting skills are important and transferable: analytics, logical presentation of information, communication/presentations
Many consulting norms and behaviors must be thrown out the window: politics, powerpoints, attitude
There will be a learning curve both in culture and in how to spend your time
10 signs you’re actually a project manager (and what you can do about it!)Ross Stanley
Have you switched out your project managers for product managers and started “doing agile”, but you’re not feeling like you're winning yet? Would you like to develop more product management practices at your organisation?
In this session, Ross Stanley (curr: Xero, prev: Vend) will describe the changes he’s seen in the industry as product management and associated practises have matured, identifying along the way the things that often go hand in hand with making great software products. Spoiler: there’s probably more to it than just hiring product managers.
It's important to have a practised, memorable elevator pitch so you can be ready to impress when the opportunity arises. To help perfect your pitch, Sarah shares 8 steps to win them over! If you want to practice your elevator pitch on someone, or need help streamlining your content, USQ’s Career Development Practitioners at Student Services are the people to contact.

The education sector in India is poised to witness major growth in the years to come as India will have world’s largest tertiary-age population and second largest graduate talent pipeline globally by the end of 2020. Currently, higher education contributes 59.7 percent of the market size, school education 38.1 percent, pre-school segment 1.6 percent, and technology and multi-media the remaining 0.6 percent. India’s IT firms are working with academic institutions and setting up in-house institutes to groom the right talent as these companies move to Social Media, Mobility, Analytics and Cloud technologies.
The total amount of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) inflow into the education sector in India stood close to US$ 1,300 million from April 2000 to March 2016, according to data released by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).
The education sector has seen a host of reforms and improved financial outlays in recent years that could possibly transform the country into a knowledge haven. With human resource increasingly gaining significance in the overall development of the country, development of education infrastructure is expected to remain the key focus in the current decade. In this scenario, infrastructure investment in the education sector is likely to see a considerable increase in the current decade

The idea behind this large “Teacher Centric” education project was born in my IMS days. I felt
that there was a need for a project which was targeted at teachers with the objective of attracting
the best minds, once again, to a career in teaching. Setting up one such school as a pilot project
to establish proof of concept was what I had in mind.

How to Effectively Work as a Tech Lead Tech leading is an art which turns the unique skills and talents of an engineering team into a well oiled machine. Many engineers eventually find themselves in a leadership position but without the experience to utilize it to the fullest extent. Developing tactics for how to route information and questions, use group-oriented communication style, developing delegation skills, product vision and working well with other teams can move a tech lead from good to great. During this discussion Derek Parham will talk about his lessons learned on tech leading Google Apps and provide tips to existing and future tech leads on how to play this role effectively. Speaker: Derek Parham Derek is an entrepreneur and technical leader with over twelve years of experience in software engineering. He is the founder of Google Apps for Businesses and served as its technical lead for nearly six years. He launched the project from scratch and helped grow the team to over one hundred engineers serving over 40 million customers today. The project utilized and developed some of the world’s largest scalable systems, along with shaping what is now referred to as "the cloud".
How do you get a job in data science? Knowing enough statistics, machine learning, programming, etc to be able to get a job is difficult. One thing I have found lately is quite a few people may have the required skills to get a job, but no portfolio. While a resume matters, having a portfolio of public evidence of your data science skills can do wonders for your job prospects. Even if you have a referral, the ability to show potential employers what you can do instead of just telling them you can do something is important. This is a talk based on my original blog on Building a Data Science Portfolio: https://towardsdatascience.com/how-to-build-a-data-science-portfolio-5f566517c79c

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
