- 1. This source is from the Capitalist perspective. Here we can see how Stalin is placing some flags in some of the eastern European countries. The message the source is giving is that Stalin seems to be playing a game with the eastern countries, gambling that if he conquers them and establishes communist governments he would be criticised by the other anti-communist countries such as France and –Britain.
- 2. From the communist perspective: we can see all the world sorrounded with the oz and the hammer, that are the symbols of communism. We think this represents Stalin’s view of the future of the world, or at least his dream of a whole communist world.
- 3. The Policy of Containment : the idea was to contain communism, to stop it from spreading any further. As Truman knew the only way to stop communism was to go to war, instead he decided to help other countries that were under communist threat. The Truman Doctrine : USA`s president wanted to stop the influence of the communist no matter the consequences. That was why he prepared his country to send money, equipment and advice to countries so that they could defend themselves from Communist take-over. The Marshall Plan Aid: The Marshall Plan was originally called the European Recovery Program. The program was a U.S. sponsored plan designed to rehabilitate the economies of 17 western and southern European nations in order to create stable conditions in which democratic institutions could survive. The United States feared that the poverty, unemployment, and dislocation of the postwar period were reinforcing the appeal of Communist parties to voters in Western Europe , because Communism succeeded when people faced poverty and hardship.
- 4. Policy of Containment: here we can see Uncle Sam and all the other countries kind of approaching USSR. Really this source shows the plan that USA had to contain Communism by helping other countries to defend themselves.
- 5. THE TRUMAN DOCTRINE: In this source we can see Uncle Sam giving a man some wood for his house. This means like that USA is going to support the other countries against communism but this help would not be for free.
- 6. The Marshall Plan. In this source we can see all the flags from the countries that were benefited by the Marshall Aid. Behind them we can see the American flag. The source represents the intentions that USA had of helping the other countries from the back, instead off going to war with the USSR. Also, USA believed that if all countries helped each other they could be behind the influence of Stalin. She was afraid that if Stalin conquered the Eastern Europe countries, the USSR would easily attacked the USA.
