Make a Ten Goal: To find the missing addend to make a ten. Directions: Can play as a partner or individual game. Place ten frame cards down. Turn one over at a time. Place counters in the empty spaces to make a ten. Students record their answers.
Go Fish Goal: To have the most pairs of ten at the end of the game. Take face and 10 cards out of the pile Directions: Group of 2 – 4 students. Each student receives 4 cards to begin with. Starting with one of the players, they choose one of their cards and ask another player if they have the other part to make a ten. If they get a pair, they place it aside, if not, they choose 2 more cards and continue to play. Continue to play until a player doesn’t have anymore cards or the card pile is gone.
Ten Frame Challenge Goal: To have the most pairs of ten at the end of the game. Take face and 10’s out of the pile Directions: Each student places a set of ten-frame cards face down. At the same time, they turn the top card over and the first one to say the other part to make a ten, wins that round and gets both cards.
1, 2, 3 Land on Ten Goal: Use the digits 1, 2 or 3 to be the person to say 10. Directions: You can only use the three digits 1, 2, or 3 You can only use one of the digits each turn Each turn you add to your previous number to get the final sum of ten. The person who lands on 10 first, wins!!
12 Card Draw Goal: Be the player who has the most combinations of ten Directions: Use a deck of cards. Take all the 10’s and face cards out. Place 12 cards face up and the rest face down. I usually place the cards in three rows with 4 cards in each row. Each player takes turn taking the top card from the pile and tries to match it to one or more cards face up to make a ten. The player with the most matches at the end, wins!!!
Pyramid Math 1. Place cards in a pyramid starting with 1 card and finishing the bottom row with 5 cards. 2. Create bonds of 10 by adding cards together. 3. When bonds of 10 can not be made, fill in the missing spots with additional cards. 4. Play until there are no more available moves. Modify the game by making bonds of different numbers.
