  VISION
GOD’S STORY
          In the beginning God created…
In the beginning was the Word…
So God created man in His image...
...the Lord God sent man out of the garden...
For God so loved the world…
...the Son of Man has come to seek and to save…
...not willing that any should perish…
...even the death of the cross…
...God has raised Him from the dead…
         ...whoever calls upon His name…
              ...how shall they hear…
           ...you shall be My witnesses…
                 ...Go therefore…

WHAT IS YOUR CALL?
        YOUR VISION!
The purpose of this material is to help you
discover God’s plan for building your part of
the OM ministry partnership team. You will be
introduced to many ideas related to partnership.
We ask that you prayerfully apply the principles
and procedures of creative problem solving,
seeking the leadership of the Holy Spirit as to
which of the ideas you should implement as part
of your plan. May God give you wisdom as you
               work through this material.

Mission is a statement of purpose

Vision is a statement of direction

WHERE DOES VISION
  COME FROM?
Vision comes as the Lord makes us
aware of needs through the five P’s:

     P _______________________

     P _______________________

   VERIFYING THE VISION
  “Where there is no counsel, the people fall;
but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

                 Proverbs 11:14

                                                       5

HOW WE ARE SUPPORTED
The ministry of Operation Mobilization is supported by the
faithful gifts of interested friends and churches.

Each staff member is responsible for raising personal and
ministry support. All donations are subject to the
recommendations of the donors in accordance with the
procedures of Operation Mobilization (OM). However, in
order to protect your deduction and to maintain our status as
a tax exempt organization, all donations, cash or otherwise,
must be treated as belonging totally to OM and subject to
its full authority and control. The IRS requires that OM have
the power to modify any restriction or condition if in its sole
judgement such restriction becomes, in effect, unnecessary,
incapable of fulfillment, or inconsistent with the charitable
purposes of Operation Mobilization.

* This information reflects current U.S. tax law. For use in other countries,
please verify individual country’s charitable tax laws.

                                                                           11
BUILDING A MINISTRY
       PARTNERSHIP TEAM
     1. Involves developing and enhancing relationships.

     2. This is not extra or separate from our overall task
        and calling into Christian service.

     3. Emphasis is on relationships with people interested
in us in the ministry God gives us.

     4. Involves an exchange of gifts and abilities between
supporters and us that is pleasing to God.

     5. We have a ministry to those who send us, as well
as to those to whom we are sent.

Philippians 4:18 “…you were concerned before
                   but you lacked opportunity.”

     6. We need to give people an opportunity to match
their concern. You are a bridge between your
ministry team and the mission field.

Obstacles hinder your ministry of Support Team Develop-
ment. The first step to overcoming an obstacle is admitting it.
We must be honest with ourselves. Is it fear? Is it pride? Is it a
combination of the two? Or is it something else? There are no
shortcuts to support raising. We must first obtain a solid
biblical basis and philosophy.

                                                                     13

SEMINAR 3
BIBLICAL FOUNDATION
THE BIBLICAL BASIS
1. Biblical Basis of Being Supported By Others
Note: Please read the scripture verses noted below before viewing the session.

 a. Example of Levites
Numbers 18:21 - “and to the sons of Levi, behold I have given
all the tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their
service which they perform, the service of the tent of meeting.”

 b. Example of Jesus
Luke 8:2, 3 - “...Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom
seven demons had gone out, and Joanna the wife of Chuza,
Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who were
contributing to their support out of their own private means.”

 c. Teaching of Jesus
Matthew 10:9, 10 - “Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper
for your money belts, or a bag for your journey, or even two
tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for the worker is worthy of his
    support.”

 d. Example of Paul
Acts 18:4, 5 - “... in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to
persuade Jews and Greeks. But when Silas and Timothy came
down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself
    completely to the word...”

18
Philippians 4:14, 16 - Paul compliments the Philippians for giving.

e. Teaching of Paul

    I Corinthians 9:

vs. 1-6: the right to be supported by believers

    vs. 7: appeals to logic

    vs. 8-10: appeal to Scripture

vs. 11, 12: principle of sowing and reaping
vs. 13: appeals to temple food system

vs. 14: appeals to Christ’s teaching

vs. 15-18: principle reaffirmed but not demanded

2. Biblical Basis of Making Needs Known
a. Not Prohibited
I Corinthians 9:14 - “So also the Lord directed those who
proclaim the gospel to get their living from the gospel.”

b. For the Kingdom
Acts 13:2, 3 - “... Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul
for the work to which I have called them. Then having fasted
and prayed and laid hands on them, they sent them away.”

Colossians 3:17 - “And whatever you do in word or deed, do
all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the
    Father through Him.”
                                                                 19
A disciple is a giver!
 c. Provides an Opportunity
Philippians 4:10 - “...you were concerned before, but you
        lacked opportunity.”

Definition of an appeal: giving people the opportunity to
         match their concern.

 d. Scriptural Examples
Matthew 10:11 - “And into whatever city or village you
enter, inquire who is worthy in it; and abide there until
         you go away.”

Luke 10:7 - “Do not keep moving from house to house.”

Romans 15:24 - “... I hope... to be helped on my way
         there by you....”

Helped = Propempo - practical assistance

         I Kings 17:4, 9 - “... I have commanded the ravens to
provide for you there.” “... I have commanded a widow
         there to provide for you.”

“We must trust God when we tell only God.
We must trust God when we appeal to people.”
