4. Directive Scope
Public Sector Bodies
All public sector bodies (state, regional or local
authorities) in the EU are required to:
• Make their websites and mobile applications
accessible to everyone.
• Provide an Accessibility statement.
Member States
EU Member States are required to:
• Actively enforce and monitor the digital
accessibility level of their public sector
bodies.
• Report the results to The European
Commission.
5. Objectives
Supporting the European Commission in the
implementation of the Web Accessibility Directive by:
• Building conformance in accessibility testing
• Demonstrating large scale monitoring
• Pursuing leading edge technologies such as
machine learning
