The Urban Youth Civil Rights Education Initiative aims to educate 8th grade students about the African American non-violent Civil Rights Movement through documentary films, discussions, and field trips to historical sites. Its objectives are to organize funding for educational activities and network with youth and education groups to create a national organization focused on educating youth about the Civil Rights movement through films and trips. The initiative offers a free overnight trip to Washington D.C. for middle school children from Monmouth County, NJ to visit the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and other monuments.
