In order to help young girls recognize
instances of stereotyping, prejudice and
discrimination LadiesFirst encourages our
girls to drive the conversation by practicing
conscious media consumption. LadiesFirst
provides girls with media literacy education
to make sure young girls know how to
respond to such behaviors when they see
them on screen. As a result, the critical
thinking skills that these girls will develop
will equip them with the confidence to
address such behaviors in their communities.
What Do We Do?
The mentorship and media
literacy program serves as
the core of LadiesFirst

Education in Action:
Advocacy
Advocacy bridges the gap between learning and
life. By giving young girls the platform to use
their voice to spark change, LadiesFirst aspires
to inspire a culturally responsive community of
empowered girls ready to lead.
Self-Advocacy IS Important
Although self-advocacy is commonly associated
with adults, LadiesFirst believes the earlier it is
introduced the better.
As LadiesFirst strives to cultivate a culture of
empowered girls, it is imperative that our girls
learn how to express their strengths and needs,
establish their personal goals, and understanding
their legal rights and responsibilities and
communicate these to others.
