1. The Rainbird Foundation
is committed to the
end of child abuse.
The Rainbird Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit based in Madison, WI.
2. The Rainbird Foundation impacts the many facets of child abuse by
developing partnerships with local and global organizations who are
committed to the end of child abuse. These partnerships will include
developing or redesigning and implementing services, providing
educational opportunities, seminars, and training sessions, and
participating in speaking engagements that further the commitment
to the end of child abuse.
The Rainbird Foundation participates in projects that
produce alternative solutions and results that contribute to the
end of child abuse. Our projects target legislation, social
services, and law enforcement reform, and provide public
education and civic programs that transform individuals, families,
and communities.
3. The Rainbird Foundation has several projects
currently in development:
The Partnership Initiative develops partnerships regionally, nationally, and globally with other
organizations that provide services or resources that contribute to the end of child abuse.
A 12-month video campaign to alter the cultural conversation for the end of child abuse from an
impossible problem that can't be solved to a possible promise whose time has come. The campaign is
designed to educate and inspire viewers to take action locally, nationally, and globally.
A think tank whose sole purpose is to invent effective alternative solutions for the end of child
abuse. These solutions will be integrated into The Partnership Initiative as well as implemented by
The Rainbird Foundation.
The 1,000 Mile Journey is an annual national fundraiser that:
- generates the conversation regionally and nationally for the end of child abuse as an idea whose
time has come.
-provides booths for local non-profits working with issues related to child abuse and gives them
the opportunity to educate people about the services they offer and the resources that are
available.
-politicizes the issue of child abuse.
-raises funds for The Rainbird Foundation and other local organizations who have been chosen to
receive a financial award for their work contributing to the end of child abuse.
4. The Rainbird Foundation has projects in development that will
be produced within the next 3-5 years:
An accurate annual compilation of national child abuse statistics that are easily
accessible to all people working in the field and provide a national baseline that
allows us to measure our results related to the eradication of child abuse.
A program to re-educate caretakers who are either abusing children or at
risk of abusing children.
A documentary film that exposes the conditions that contribute to the
persistence of child sexual abuse.
The Home Project builds homes for abused children and provides
professional care that children need to be restored to full health and develop
flourishing lives beyond child abuse.
A global research trip to study child abuse and issues related to child abuse as well
as the impact of child abuse in each country around the world.
5. The 1,000 Mile Journey is a one mile
walk with 1,000 or more participants
taking a stand for the end of child abuse.
The inaugural event was held on Sunday,
April 25, 2010 on the Capitol Square in
Madison, WI.
The Rainbird Foundation is committed to creating a 1,000 Mile Journey in each
state of the US and around the globe. If you are interested in collaborating with us

The 1,000 Mile Journey is developing a visible community presence committed to
the end of child abuse. We will make contributions to the partnering organization
whose work is contributing to the end of child abuse.
We are committed to drawing attention to the crucial need for education,
resources, and proper legislation that supports the end of child abuse.
6. The Founders
Hanna Roth was one of the founding principles of The Coaching Exchange,
inc., one of the first business coaching firms in the country, built in the early
80's, in Los Angeles, California. The Coaching Exchange has worked with
entrepreneurs, government agencies, celebrities and entertainers, and
Fortune 100 companies. For over 25 years Ms. Roth has worked in business,
fundraising, event planning, and management. She leads courses nationally
and is a writer, editor, and magazine columnist. As an advocate for children,
she specializes in working with teens and families. Ms. Roth is committed
to the eradication of child abuse.
Elisabeth Norton has been an educator and coach, mentoring students to
build strong, successful business practices for over 15 years. She is one of
the Midwest's finest Myofascial Release Therapists, a therapy on the cutting
edge of physical and emotional recovery. She received her Bachelor
of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of
Missouri-Columbia. Ms. Norton is a relationship coach, speaker,
writer, and columnist, and has a relationship blog called . . She is
committed to people having healthy relationships and, in particular,
to teenagers being well cared for, loved, and respected.
