teachersandschools.It isdedicated totransforminglivesthroughinternational exchange of
teachers.

B. History ofVisitingInternational Faculty Program. The program started 19 yearsago. It wasfounded
in1987 and beganacceptingteachersfromothercountriesof the worldto teachKindergartenupto
grade 12 in1989. Thisprojectisin cooperationwiththe NorthCarolinaDepartmentof Public
Instruction.
2. Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program.
Since 1946, the FulbrightTeacherExchange Programhashelpednearly23,000 teachersand
school administratorstopromote mutual understandingbetweenthe UnitedStatesandcountries
aroundthe world.
3 Inter-African Teacher Exchange.
The objectivesof thisprogramare to provide opportunityforAfricanteacherstolearnfrom
teachingenvironmentinotherAfricancountriesandalsoaimedtoextendexperiencesandwiden
the horizonof Africanteachersbyencouragingexchange visits tocountriesoutside the Africaas
well.
4 Canadian Educators Exchange.
The CanadianEducationExchange Foundationisanon-profitfoundationwhichhandlesboth
studentandeducatorexchanges.Internationaleducational exchangesoffereducatorsandtheir
studentsanopportunitytobroadentheirunderstandingof one another’scultures,customsand
languages.
5 Global Teachers Millennium Awards-
Althoughthisprogramislimitedonlytoparticipatingcountries,itisimportanttolearnthat
the Global TeacherExchange program contributestothe qualityof teachersworldwide.
The Global TeacherExchange Program commitstoimprovingthe qualityof EducationinSouthAfrica,
Ghana, Uganda,and the UK and to promote partnershipbetweenthe NorthandSouthAfrican
countries.
