After King Richard's death, archer Robin Longstride returns to England with friends. They encounter the dying Robert of Locksley, who asks Robin to return his sword to his father Walter in Nottingham. Robin impersonates Robert to prevent his land being taken, and becomes stepfather to Robert's wife Marian. Meanwhile, Godfrey worms his way into service of the weak King John, hoping to allow an easy French invasion of England by collecting brutal taxes. The film stars Russell Crowe as Robin Hood and was directed by Ridley Scott in his typical stylish visual style, reminding viewers of other mythological films like Clash of the Titans. It was produced by Universal Studios and distributed widely in theaters in 2010.
