1) After King Richard's death, Robin Longstride promises a dying knight he will return his sword to his father in Nottingham, where he decides to impersonate the dead man and stays in the city. 2) Robin rallies the barons to thwart a French invasion and avenge his father's death, but his growing popularity makes him a threat to King John who declares him an outlaw. 3) Robin is forced to flee Nottingham with his friends and joins other outcasts in Sherwood Forest, where his legend as the heroic outlaw Robin Hood begins.
