The Leeds City College implemented a "Mobile Device and Cloud Computing" project in April 2013 to provide more flexible access to IT and computing for students. The project involved purchasing 500 laptops and 300 tablets to allow students to access college systems using any device from any location. This brought the benefits of lower power costs, increased access to computing, and cost savings from being able to purchase more devices within the existing budget compared to desktop computers. The success of the initial project led to its expansion within the college, bringing more flexible and increased access for students while achieving efficiencies and value.
