Back Lobby Treaty Of Versailles
League of Nations The end of the war started the league of nations. Was created to maintain peace and stability.
Punishment The war had ended. As part of the treaty. Germany had to take full responsibility for what happened. Also had to pay for the war. Price: 33 Billion dollars.
Treaty of Versailles  This ended the war. It did many things for many countries. Some bad for other countrys
Created New Countries Russia was split into smaller parts Poland, Finland, Latria, Lithuania, and Estonia. Ottoman empire was divided up between the allies. All were started of given more land.
Russian Revolution  The Russian’s revolt against their czar.  They then drop out of the war. Allowing the German army to fight a western war. Putting pressure of the U.S.
U.S. Troop’s The German’s fighting a Western War. The U.S. has to move more soldier's into the war. By July of 1918 the U.S. had 1 Million troops in the war.
Railroads The German’s need the railroads for supplies. The U.S. started to destroy the railroads.  Crippling the German's
General Pershing Was leading the U.S. troops. 1917 was the year. He controlled all army commands .
Zimmermann Note It was written by Arthur Zimmermann. Who was as German official. Told Mexico to attack the U.S. The German’s said that they would assist them with the take over. But the U.S. intercepted it.
Unrestricted submarine warfare The German’s promised not to sink merchant ships. In 1917 German was beating Russia. They started to sink all ships in the west. Breaking the Sussex pledge.
Sinking of the Lusitania It was carrying citizens. A German u boat spotted it. They believed that it was carrying ammunition. They sunk it. Woodrow Wilson was outraged. 1,198 passenger’s died. 128 American's.
Trench Warfare Forcing them to retreat back to their trench’s. They would be shot at by the machine gunner’s. They then had to find the holes in the barbed wire. Many died
Trench Warfare They dug holes to sleep in and also eat in.  They had rat problems. The rats would eat their food and eat at the dead
Trench Warfare In the morning they would use artillery. The troops would run out in small holes in the barbed wire. Run through no man’s land. They tried to get to the other side. Many times it failed.
Trench warfare They had to protect their land. They dug trenches to cut loses. Men stood in the trench’s ducking from enemy snipers.
Imperialism  Is competing for colonies. Austria had control of Bosnia. Serbia wanted Bosnia back.
Militarism  Countries needed to protect their colonies.  Many countries used a draft to get soldiers. Russia largest army. Germany best trained. Britain largest navy
Nationalism Pride in your country Ex: Bosnia still believed that they were Serbians. But they were controlled by Austria
Assassination of archduke Franz Ferdinand  He was in Serbia. He and his wife were shot to death. Was shot by Gavrilo Princip. The date was the 28 June 1914. Not a cause but a spark.
