Braille is a system of writing for blind people that uses patterns of raised dots that can be read with the fingertips. It was developed by Louis Braille in the early 19th century as a means for the blind to read and write independently. Sign language uses manual communication and body language such as hand shapes, orientation and movement of the hands, arms or body, and facial expressions to convey meaning for deaf people and those with hearing loss.
