1. KENNY & HENRY DAILY INSTRUCTIONS/ROUTINE
MORNINGS: (Kenny is first usually around 7:15…Henry shortly after)
I always get them dressed before taking them downstairs & Kenny will have to go potty right away.…it’s easier than
chasing them around once they get going. Kenny’s pull up and Henry’s diaper get put in the diaper champ which is
behind the door when you go in the baby’s room.
BREAKFAST:
Kenny will want 2% milk in his straw cup with 2 pop tarts.
Henry will want whole milk, & a nutrigrain bar. Sometimes he will sign “MORE” and want another one.
They sit in their chairs at the table for breakfast.
SNACK: (10:00ish)
If they get fussy around 10 I will let them have a snack. I let them choose. Usually Henry will have a small bowl of nilla
wafers (in cabinet to R of fridge in aluminum like bag) & Kenny will either have a chocolate cookie 100cal pack or fruit
snack. There are also chocolate animal crackers. Bowls are in the top cabinet to the Right of the sink.
LUNCH: (11:30-12:00ish)
They don’t eat a lot for lunch…
Kenny: nutirgrain bar, orange peanut butter crackers (in rubbermaid @ bottom of pantry) , and veggie sticks with milk
Henry: ½ oatmeal bar, veggie sticks, orange peanut butter crackers and some milk
After lunch they will play again until Henry is ready for nap.
NAP (usually 1:30-2:00 but can be later)
He goes down really easy. I just close his windows/blinds, turn fan on high and make sure he has his binkies & blankets.
More than likely he will go to his bookshelf and pick out a book to take with him in his bed.
Kenny usually doesn’t nap. I usually play games with him while Henry is sleeping. However, if he has been cranky that
day and I know he is tired I try to get him to take a nap in my bed. I let him pick out a movie, TAKE HIM POTTY First or he
WILL wet the bed! I usually get the movie started & tell him I’ll be back in a few minutes and go downstairs. I go up
maybe 20 minutes later to check on him & usually he has fallen asleep. Not always…but if he is tired he will sleep.
DINNER (usually between 5:30 & 6:00)
Kenny: hotdog, banana, chips(either Doritos or tortilla chips) and milk
Henry: club crackers with PB & jelly, veggie sticks, you can try giving him yogurt or applesauce & milk
Kenny will probably ask to read the story after dinner. It’s the children’s Bible book in the cabinet to the Left of the
stove
2. BATHS (7:30ish)
Just throw them in the tub…no explanation needed! The small purple loofa is theirs & I usually have 2 towels. 1 for the
floor & one to dry them off with. I do find it easier to bring their pj’s/diapers/pull-ups into the bathroom to get them
dressed in there after. After bath they go downstairs and get settled with a cup of milk & a movie or show on channel
301.
BEDTIME (8:30-8:45) The later they are up the longer they sleep in…usually
Make sure Kenny has gone to the bathroom one more time & has a pull-up on; he will tell you the rest. He will pick out
his books etc. Also, just make sure his sound machine is on high & his fan is on.
Henry usually doesn’t let you read him a book but he likes to pick out a book and look through it. I usually spend at least
5 minutes laying in bed with him while he pages through the book, trying to tell him about the things he is looking at.
Then I leave & he keeps the book in his bed. He will lay down and go to sleep after you turn off the light and close the
door. Again, just make sure windows/blinds are closed, and his fan is on low for overnight.
**When you have to put both to bed by yourself I usually work it like this**
1st take Kenny potty, then tell Kenny to go in his room, pick out books and wait for you in his bed. I tell him I just have to
put Henry to sleep and then I will be in to read to him. Then I go in and do Henry’s routine. Once Henry is done I go into
Kenny’s room read to him and get his room ready. Roll his blankets to the R side of his bed & put red pillows on floor.
He sleeps with his door open. Sometimes you need to lay with him for a little bit or he cries…not sure why it’s kinda a
new thing. I find that if you wait till he is really tired he usually falls asleep while reading books and you can avoid the
crying stage.
THINGS THE BOYS LIKE TO DO:
Inside: coloring, play doh, water painting (all supplies are in the cabinets above the dryer), play toys in living room or
down in basement, watch movies, wii, play games (games are in cabinet under the TV in living room). Puzzles (under
train table). My advice with games & puzzles is to let each pick out one at a time. Then make them clean it up before
getting another one. Otherwise you will have a huge mess on your hands. They also like to play cars/trucks. There are
play mats under the futon you can pull out. They are not allowed to run the cars on the hardwood floors. Only on the
rugs/play mats, computer: Kenny’s favorite websites are www.playhousedisney.com, www.pbskids.org, and
www.sesamestreet.org. You can print out color pages from the Disney website and then they color them. I usually tape
the pages to the table especially for Henry or he ends up coloring the table.
*I never use the patio door for out/in. IF going in front it’s through the garage & when going out back we use the
laundry room door*
Outside: Ride bikes up/down driveway (since we get the morning sun in front we like to do this in late afternoon but you
can do it whenever). They are only allowed to go up & down the driveway. They know to stop once they hit the
sidewalk…otherwise you will be chasing them down the block! They will also use the sidewalk on both sides of the
house. Sidewalk chalk, swingset (Henry just discovered how to climb the ladder to the slide. He can do it but slips all the
time so you have to be right next to him when he is climbing the slide. I always make sure as soon as he gets up he sits
right down to go down the slide. I don’t want him wandering around up there and falling down the climbing wall
opening! Unfortunately since he discovered he could do this it is all he wants to do meaning that will most likely be your
station in the back),plastic pool/trampoline etc (this is one of our favorite things to do right after lunch. I will take them
out from 12-1:30 sometimes 2. It works out great because it makes for an easy afternoon and when you come back in
it’s nap time. There are folding camping chairs along the side of the house by the garbage cans. Here is how I do it & it
3. works great: I bring out 1 beach towel, sunscreen, spare pull up&wipes for henry in case he poops. Then I can just
change him on the bench and throw away the diaper without going inside. Before we go out I close the laundry room
door, lay a towel on the floor, and have their clothes & clean diaper waiting on the washer for when we come back in.
That way when we are done they are stuck in the laundry room and you can get the wet suits off & clothes back on
before they take off inside the house. Plus they have the magnetic toys on the dryer to play with!) Then I give them
each ½ cup of milk to calm them down and put a video on. Usually within 15 min it’s time to lay Henry down for his nap.
Make sure you put the wet swim diaper in the outside garbage or it STINKS!!
Park, library, walk.**I don’t let them play on the steps in the backyard…they are only allowed to sit on the bottom step
and rest or use sidewalk chalk on small cement slab.
LIBRARY: 88th ave north to 179th street, Right on 179th street, right on 80th AVE, Immediate Left after going over train
tracks. The children’s department is upstairs. They like to sit at the table and do puzzles. Friday from 10-11 there is
story time on the lawn at the library. They do games & read a book…there is a blanket in the small closet to the R of the
laundry room if you want to try and take them.
PARK: there is one in the subdivision that is a 12-15 min walk away. Kenny will ride his Lightning McQueen bike & Henry
rides in the wagon. Try to keep it this way because they will no longer rider 2 in the wagon without fighting…meaning
each will end up walking & the wagon carries Kenny’s bike!
There is another Park at the Millenium Elementary school which is super close & it’s great for the kids. 88th ave North
to 179th street. R on 179th Street. The school will be on your Left at 84th ave. Turn Left on 84th ave and park in far north
end of parking lot. The playground is in the back of the building.
**The fence is always locked at the back entrance meaning you cannot get out and no one can get in. We keep the front
gate unlocked for easy access to front & back yards. After being outside you will have to make sure that all doors to the
house are locked before going to bed: garage utility door, laundry room door, front door, patio door.
