Seeing the church as the LORD's army, saved to battle the forces of darkness that still enslave and deceive souls today, equipped with the almighty of Christ Jesus' resurrected Word.
Lent As A Spiritual Practice. Why and how you might want to consider observin...Alister Pate
Some thoughts on Lent for people from the emerging church. What is Lent? What is it for? Moving from the story of Jesus 40 days in the wilderness, we explore the metaphor of training, the countercultural idea of preparation, and using it as a way to live into the Christian story. Then for a few reflections on Lent. Finally, it offers a few suggestions on some things we could give up, and some things we could take up.
I hope this is helps people who don't have Lent as part of their heritage to see how it can help you get to some good stuff in your spiritual journey.

Who am I? Answers the Arjuna question:
“Verily, the mind is fickle and turbulent, obstinate and strong, yea extremely difficult as the wind to control.” - Arjuna
In the Gospel of John, we are told that Andrew met Jesus, with that burning zeal went and found his brother Simon Peter and brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John, but you shall be called Cephas". What did Jesus saw in Peter? What does Jesus sees in you today? How does one keep the flame alive? In what ways do I share or give testimony of the love of Jesus to others? As leaders, we are to seek Him, receive Him, know Him, love Him, serve Him and be like Him, you know….. it’s all about Jesus.

All-age talk starting with the popular "Who am I" game (includes two ready-made questions to warm-up the audience) and then progressing into piecing together the clues about who Jesus is. Climaxing with Peter's declaration that He is the Christ and asking what we believe.
Simple all-age, interactive talk on one of Jesus Christ's most important themes and life missions: seeking and saving the lost. Through contemporary examples and original Biblical parables, this amazing truth is engagingly illustrated.
Simple illustrations from a top-class violinist, famous footballer and a rusty old car of what happens when you don't practice, or leave something too long. This aptly illustrates Paul's encouragement to Timothy is brilliant for us all: "fan into flame the gift of God which is in you" (2 Tim. 1:6).
Lookalikes - growing to be more like Christ?Stephen Duff
Some funny celebrity lookalikes - with animals! This leads into an important challenge for all who follow Christ to seek to be more like Him, not in appearance, but in our attitudes and behaviour (Ephesians 5:1).
Why is recycling and caring for our environment so important? Loads of useful facts and figures to help make the case, reinforcing just how much waste we produce and the difference being eco-friendly can make.
Did you know that every year the UK produces enough rubbish to fill Loch Lomond - our nation's largest lake!? What about the fact that if you chuck away glass, it will never decompose? Check out what makes recycling so economically and environmentally sensible.
As the battle looms in the kingdom of Saxondale, see 20-year-old, lovingly preserved Lego castle kits back in action. Read and picture how the epic conflict is set-up with analysis of the opponents strengths and weaknesses. Best of all, remember that - because of Jesus on the cross - God can, will and does make peace between even the bitterest of enemies. If He can cry "Father forgive them" as nails tear through His hands, then so can we...
Glasses can make an amazing difference - transforming our sight from blurry, confused and stressful to crisp, clear and effortless. Jesus also talks about seeing properly in the Bible and actually healed people who were born blind.
However, as spectacles were developed after the Bible was finished, it's "salve" that the apostle John encourages the church of Laodicea to put on their eyes, so they will not be blind.
John and Jesus are talking about spiritual sight. As we read and apply the Bible, we will find its truths illuminating our lives, enabling us to clearly distinguish good from evil. The Scriptures are the best pair of glasses for viewing our world that could ever be imagined!
Using the illustration of assessments and tests, we look forward with reverent fear and joyful hope to God's final judgment of the world in justice and mercy. Because of what Christ Jesus has accomplished on the cross, we can be sure of eternal life and have nothing to worry about. He has taken care of everything - only let us make sure our faith is firmly rooted in the Unchanging One.
Left behind? Never - God is always those who believeStephen Duff
Many of us remember losing our children or parents in a crowd, or moment of forgetfulness. Thankfully, our heavenly Father never overlooks us or leaves us behind!
Are you the "spitting image" of Jesus? Do you resemble and remind onlookers of His passionate, unquenchable love and implacable, precisely-wielded truth?
It's not what job position you will that matters, but who you will become. What kind of teacher or lawyer, doctor or police officer? Will you seek to follow Jesus' example, or just try to line your own pockets?
Biblical, Christian and concerned citizen appeal for volunteers to help pick-up litter, which is a beautiful of Jesus' self-sacrifice on the cross, reaching down to our lost messiness and making us clean!
What factors caused the Reformation? How could the late Medieval Catholic Church be outwardly incredibly successful, but yet so vulnerable to the sweeping forces of change? How did faith once more become centered on one's personal relationships with God?
Why did the Medieval crusades happen? What influenced knights and peasants to cross a continent to battle for access rights and territory in the Holy Land? Was it personal self-aggrandizement or profound religious belief? What did their battle-cry - "Deus Volt" (God wills it) - really mean?
A short all-age talk on importance of "correctly handling the word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15). We need to open and understand our Bible, growing in relationship with Jesus, not just parade the "Big Book" down to the front of church and then forget about its power. Just like a good gardener or plumber uses tools to help in their work, so we have this wonderful tool at our fingertips!
Be ready to fill the gaps you see around you for God's glory and with His enabling. Using the catchphrase from the film Robotz to remind us of our mission here on earth.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
