Google Plus Pages for Brands and Businesses: What Now? What Next? - webinarCirrus ABS
Webinar - Google Plus Pages for brands and businesses, marketers, and social media geeks. Discussing creation, optimization, engagement, connections, and more.
presented by Kevin Mullett for Cirrus ABS
The Death of Lorem Ipsum and Pixel-Perfect Content (MinneWebCon version)Dave Olsen
A designer has been asked to mock up an example student profile page in Photoshop. It’s beautiful. The student’s name fits perfectly under the profile image. Their bio is split into two perfectly aligned columns. The design just feels… right. Approvals are given and the production of a website with many different profiles is started. As more profiles are added the design no longer seems to work. It’s starting to seem like the website itself will no longer work. The cold, hard reality of varied and inconsistent web content has hit the project hard. Do we make large design changes or just live with it?
To head off this question we should utilize real content as we develop mock-ups. But it shouldn’t just be one set of real content. Delivering the best possible and most robust websites requires us to design using the best-case, worst-case, and every-case-in-between content. By combining the skills of content specialists, designers, and even developers designs will be that much stronger.

This presentation accompanies a webinar produced by Dave Courvoisier as the 3rd part in a series of webinars hosted by VoiceOverXtra.com. The Series was designed to help voice actors in their quest to better use social media in their freelance business marketing and job search. Part one on FaceBook was presented by Terry Daniel. Part two was presented by Trish Basanyi on Twitter. Dave did part 3 on "everything else"...which he limited to LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, Skype, Blogging, and a few other mentions.

Tutorial delivered in the NIFT Institute, New Delhi, India as part of the ICLAM2011 Conference, http://www.nift.ac.in/ICLAM_2011/index.htm
This practical workshop will demonstrate the use of Web 2.0 technology to empower users and librarians.
During a hands-on session, participants will work with these tools.
You will develop a library Toolbar, tailor-made services via personal start page software like Netvibes, making use of RSS-feeds, Widgets and Browser extensions
Web development tools have gone through a series of major changes than how they used to be. For starters, we no longer need computers the size of refrigerators to make introductory web runners.
Thanks to the power of pall computing (and a bevy of great SaaS businesses), we frequently do not indeed need a necessary computer at all. From the most introductory web cyber-surfer, you can do everything from edit query to sluice the rearmost videotape games.

Achieving Technical Excellence in Your Software Teams - from Devternity Peter Gfader
Our industry has a problem: We are not lacking software methodologies, programming languages, tools or frameworks but we need great software engineers.
Great software engineer teams build quality-in and deliver great software on a regular basis. The technical excellence of those engineers will help you escape the "Waterfall sandwich" and make your organization a little more agile, from the inception of an idea till they go live.
I will talk about my experiences from the last 15 years, including small software delivery teams until big financial institutions.
Why would a company like to be "agile"?
How can a company achieve that?
How can you achieve Technical Excellence in your software teams?
What developer skills are more important than languages, methods or frameworks?
This will be an interactive session with a Q&A at the end.
A design system is a scalable framework of decisions & team behaviors spread across an organization so your products can converge on a cohesive experience. Start your plan with a firm understanding of what parts it includes, products it applies to, and people that will do the work.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
