DESIGN is a creative discipline that involves
processes different from craft work.
A design project should follow these procedures:
1. Firstly, study what the consumer needs.
2. Examine the product demand and do an economic study.
3. Do market research of similar products.
4. Think about ideas you want to express.
5. Make sketches, drafts, models and prototypes.
6. Decide the materials you need.
7. Complete the technical design: make drafts in perspective
with measurement showing how to make it.
REMEMBER:
TIPS for effective book pages
Let’s have a look at some of the ins and outs
of designing beautiful and functional book
pages.
1. Keep the margins roomy. A nice, roomy
margin all the way around the page makes the
book feel more inviting, allows the reader to hold
it comfortably, and leaves space for notes or
marks.
2. Choose readable fonts. Don’t be afraid of
being “boring.” When you read, you should see
the words, not the font. You can always add
spice by choosing a livelier font for your cover,
title page, chapter titles, and other accents.
3. Use a comfortable type size and leading (the
space between lines).
TIPS for effective book pages
4. Justify your text.
5. Indent the first lines of paragraphs. The
beginnings of new paragraphs should always
be easy to see on the page. Indenting the
first line will usually do the trick.
6. Don´t forget the special details that make
the book memorable and unique.
7. Give chapter openings special treatment.
Don’t forget the heading that appears above
the main text block on every page.
