looked at how the differerent architectural
interventions can be played out through re-
acting to existing qualities and acknowledg-
ing local potential.

3. THE INFORMAL MARKET PLACE
AN EXISTING MARKET
Today the market is an open space in the musseque area, privately owned. We were not able to
get any proper pictures from the site, because the owner was not present the day we were there.
Because it is a private area, the police do not chase the informal sellers away.
Most people here sell food products -vegetables, fruits, grilled meat and fish -but also clothes and
different household equipments.
The Bairro station serves a number of approxomately 2500 people within the connecting radius
of 250 meters. With the doubling it will be 5000 people.
The market owner was not accessible to let us take pictures of the market. These are the
pictures we got from the site by photographing some people we met.
