Student Outcomes- District Assessment Results
To what extent has student proficiency in Math and Science
improved?
The schools with the SBSDs showed more student growth on average
between the district developed diagnostic and proficiency math
assessments than a comparison group of schools, although the
difference did not reach statistical significance.
Elementary schools with SBSDs have higher rates of math proficiency
(62%) when compared to a comparison group of schools (60%) as
measured by district assessments, but that pattern isn’t found in
science.
Middle schools with SBSDs have higher rates of proficiency in Science
(32%) than a comparison group (29%). However, middle schools with
SBSDs did not show higher rates of proficiency in Math.

Editor's Notes
Dewey
Dewey to begin – (approx. 2-3 min)
reference to the strategic plan
alignment of GE Foundation work to the strategic plan

Lindsey to pass over to Sabeen
Sabeen (approx. 3-5 min)
Not only has our model been proven successful (based on data collected around logs and alignment to achievement data by Research Dept…Dena Dossett and team)….but, it is highly regarded within the GE Foundation for its uniqueness:
SDs are teacher leaders identified from within the school so that they already work in a leadership capacity within the school
SDs and principals collaborate together on a plan prior to the SD interview outlining areas of growth and highlight how SD work will address those areas throughout the year
Newly hired RTs followed the same application process as that of the SBSD
Building Capacity and a Professional Collaborative Culture –
Partner with the administrator to promote collegial interaction, teacher talk and collaborative work among the faculty.
Improving Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
Intentional embedded PDs, modeling of best practices, co-teaching inquiry-based lessons, lesson study and PLC work, staff developers provide ongoing support for teachers to improve their practice of teaching and assessing student learning.
Piggy back on to Lindsey’s comment on the intentionality put forth in prepping and training SDs to become skilled in content, pedagogy, etc.
Data-based Inquiry and Decision Making
Ongoing analysis of data from multiple sources such as, diagnostic/proficiency data, formative assessments, etc.
Creating Structure to Support High Achievement
Opportunities for Professional Learning Communities where groups of teachers work together to address instructional issues and reflect on their instructional practices.
