The STEM club from Stronsay Junior High recently competed in a Bloodhound challenge competition held in Thurso against 28 other teams. Mikey Stevenson, Elizabeth Miller and Philip Piper's design called 'Cutaway' finished in 15th place, coming within 31 milliseconds of the top spot and reaching speeds of over 14 miles per hour. Their design competed well but fell just short of the winning time.

1. The STEM club recently took place in the Bloodhound challenge held at Sandy Junior High
School. The winning team then went through to the next round held in Thurso, in which our
winning design competed with 28 other teams. Mikey Stevenson, Elizabeth Miller and Philip
Piper’s design ‘Cut away’ ranked 15, a mere 31milliseconds short of pole position, reaching speeds
of just over 14 miles per hour
