Blockchain and cybersecurity is presented. Blockchain provides mechanisms to distribute digital information and decentralize security. It offers possibilities for digital identity protection, digital record protection, and decentralized certificates. Blockchain provides advantages over traditional databases by making transactions difficult to suppress and removing single points of failure. Blockchain can be used for secure messaging and ensuring data integrity. Attacks on IoT devices are discussed, as well as how blockchain could be used to track connected devices, authenticate users and devices, maintain data securely, and reduce costs for IoT security. Blockchain smart contracts are presented as a method for multiple parties to agree on device usage and resolve disputes related to IoT processes and environmental factors.
