VIDEO QUALITY ASSESSMENT USING LAPLACIAN MODELING OF MOTION VECTOR DISTRIBUTI...sipij
Video/Image quality assessment (VQA/IQA) is fundamental in various fields of video/image processing.
VQA reflects the quality of a video as most people commonly perceive. This paper proposes a reducedreference
mobile VQA, in which one-dimensional (1-D) motion vector (MV) distributions are used as
features of videos. This paper focuses on reduction of data size using Laplacian modeling of MV
distributions because network resource is restricted in the case of mobile video. The proposed method is
more efficient than the conventional methods in view of the computation time, because the proposed quality
metric decodes MVs directly from video stream in the parsing process rather than reconstructing the
distorted video at a receiver. Moreover, in view of data size, the proposed method is efficient because a
sender transmits only 28 parameters. We adopt the Laplacian distribution for modeling 1-D MV
histograms. 1-D MV histograms accumulated over the whole video sequences are used, which is different
from the conventional methods that assess each image frame independently. For testing the similarity
between MV histogram of reference and distorted videos and for minimizing the fitting error in Laplacian
modeling process, we use the chi-square method. To show the effectiveness of our proposed method, we
compare the proposed method with the conventional methods with coded video clips, which are coded
under varying bit rate, image size, and frame rate by H.263 and H.264/AVC. Experimental results show
that the proposed method gives the performance comparable with the conventional methods, especially, the
proposed method requires much lower transmission data.

Title: Vid-ODE: Continuous-Time Video Generation with Neural Ordinary Differential Equation (AAAI 2021)
Authors: Sunghyun Park*, Kangyeol Kim*, Junsoo Lee, Jaegul Choo, Joonseok Lee, Sookyung Kim, Edward Choi (*: equal contributions)
Abstract:
Video generation models often operate under the assumption of fixed frame rates, which leads to suboptimal performance when it comes to handling flexible frame rates (e.g., increasing the frame rate of the more dynamic portion of the video as well as handling missing video frames). To resolve the restricted nature of existing video generation models' ability to handle arbitrary timesteps, we propose continuous-time video generation by combining neural ODE (Vid-ODE) with pixel-level video processing techniques. Using ODE-ConvGRU as an encoder, a convolutional version of the recently proposed neural ODE, which enables us to learn continuous-time dynamics, Vid-ODE can learn the spatio-temporal dynamics of input videos of flexible frame rates. The decoder integrates the learned dynamics function to synthesize video frames at any given timesteps, where the pixel-level composition technique is used to maintain the sharpness of individual frames. With extensive experiments on four real-world video datasets, we verify that the proposed Vid-ODE outperforms state-of-the-art approaches under various video generation settings, both within the trained time range (interpolation) and beyond the range (extrapolation). To the best of our knowledge, Vid-ODE is the first work successfully performing continuous-time video generation using real-world videos.
Real-time Video Quality Assessment for Analog Television Based on Adaptive Fu...TELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
Real-time VQA (Video Quality Assessment) is an important part in the effort to build tracking
antenna system especially for analog TV. In this case, VQA must work in real-time to assess the video
clarity level. VQA assessment results are valuable information for the decision-making process. Thus, the
antenna can rotate automatically looking for the ideal direction without user’s control. In addition, the video
clarity level on the TV screen can reach optimum according to the user's wishes. The biggest challenge to
VQA is, VQA must be able to assess the video clarity level according to the user’s visual perception.
Therefore, in this study, the MOS-VQS (Mean Opinion Score-Video Quality Subjective) was used as a
visual perception approach. In addition, Adaptive FIS (Fuzzy Inference System) with membership function
tuning was implemented for decision making. This was conducted as an effort to build a reliable real-time
VQA. The test results show that real-time VQA that has been built has a good performance. This is shown
from the average accuracy percentage of the lowest assessment reached 77.2% and the highest reached
88.2%.
VIDEO AESTHETIC QUALITY ASSESSMENT USING KERNEL SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINE WITH I...MOVING Project
In this paper we propose a video aesthetic quality assessment method that combines the representation of each video according to a set of photographic and cinematographic rules,
with the use of a learning method that takes the video representation’s uncertainty into consideration. Specifically, our
method exploits the information derived from both low- and high-level analysis of video layout, leading to a photo- and motion-based video representation scheme. Subsequently, a
kernel Support Vector Machine (SVM) extension, the KSVMiGSU, is trained to classify the videos and retrieve those of high aesthetic value. Experimental results on our large dataset verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. We also make publicly available our dataset, in order to facilitate research in the area of video aesthetic quality assessment.
Review on content based video lecture retrievaleSAT Journals
Abstract Recent advances in multimedia technologies allow the capture and storage of video data with relatively inexpensive computers. Furthermore, the new possibilities offered by the information highways have made a large amount of video data publicly available. However, without appropriate search techniques all these data are hardly usable. Users are not satisfied with the video retrieval systems that provide analogue VCR functionality. For example, a user analyses a soccer video will ask for specific events such as goals. Content-based search and retrieval of video data becomes a challenging and important problem. Therefore, the need for tools that can be manipulate the video content in the same way as traditional databases manage numeric and textual data is significant. Therefore, a more efficient method for video retrieval in WWW or within large lecture video archives is urgently needed. This project presents an approach for automated video indexing and video search in large lecture video archives. First of all, we apply automatic video segmentation and key-frame detection to offer a visual guideline for the video content navigation. Subsequently, we extract textual metadata by applying video Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology on key-frames and Automatic Speech Recognition on lecture audio tracks. Keywords—Feature extraction, video annotation, video browsing, video retrieval, video structure analysis
The transmission of 360° video is challenging over the current generation cellular networks because of the limited capacity and dynamic nature. Instead of predicting the entire 360° video scene, we can predict the field of view (FoV), which drastically saves time and resources.
This project focuses on developing an FoV prediction network for 360-degree video streaming and incorporating it in VVC.

Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for pavements is crucial to achieving sustainability. Implementing RCA for new pavement can minimize carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, reduce harmful emissions, and lower life cycle costs. Compared to natural aggregate (NA), RCA pavement has fewer comprehensive studies and sustainability assessments.

Blind Prediction of Natural Video Quality
2. Abstract
We propose a blind (no reference or NR) video quality evaluation model that is nondistortion
specific. The approach relies on a spatio-temporal model of video scenes in the discrete cosine
transform domain, and on a model that characterizes the type of motion occurring in the scenes,
to predict video quality. We use the models to define video statistics and perceptual features that
are the basis of a video quality assessment (VQA) algorithm that does not require the presence of
a pristine video to compare against in order to predict a perceptual quality score. The
contributions of this paper are threefold. 1)We propose a spatio-temporal natural scene statistics
(NSS) model for videos. 2) We propose a motion model that quantifies motion coherency in
video scenes. 3) We show that the proposed NSS and motion coherency models are appropriate
for quality assessment of videos, and we utilize them to design a blind VQA algorithm that
correlates highly with human judgments of quality. The proposed algorithm, called video
BLIINDS, is tested on the LIVE VQA database and on the EPFL-PoliMi video database and
shown to perform close to the level of top performing reduced and full reference VQA
algorithms.
3. Existing method:
There are no existing blind VQA approaches that are non-distortion specific, which makes it
difficult to compare our algorithm against other methods. Full-reference and reduced reference
approaches have the enormous advantage of access to the reference video or information about
it. Blind algorithms generally require that the algorithm be trained on a portion of the database.
We do however, compare against the naturalness index NIQE in, which is a blind IQA approach
applied on a frame-by-frame basis to the video, and also against top performing full-reference
and reduced reference algorithms.
Proposed method:
was proposed that extracts transform coefficients from encoded bitstreams. A PSNR value is
estimated between the quantized transform coefficients and the predicted non-quantized
coefficients prior to encoding. The estimated PSNR is weighted using the perceptual models
.The algorithm, however, requires knowledge of the quantization step used by the encoder for
each macroblock in the video, and is hence not applicable when this information is not available.
The authors of [32] propose a distortion-specific approach based on a saliency map of detected
faces. However, this approach is both semantic dependent and distortion dependent.
Merits:
1. Output frame will be good quality
