What was our task?
Our task was to recreate 30-40 seconds of part of a horror trailer for a film.
We recreated the Blair Witch Project into our own trailer.
We did this by:
- We added the text shown in the original trailer stating that the three
film making students disappeared in the woods and a year later their
footage was found
- We found a place outside which had loads of leaves and filmed the
scene by shaking the camera
- For the second part of the trailer we used a book, an old camera and a
large sheet of paper and edited the footage to add dark lighting
- We recreated the acting from the female in the original trailer by
finding a dark room and shining a light onto her face to create an dark
atmosphere
Evaluation
To improve we need to:
- Change the sound of Sevcan’s news report by slowing it down to make it
easier to understand
- Extend the shot of Sevgi’s scene to make it longer
and add more heavy breathing
- We also need to slow down the shot of the father as it is unclear what we
is said
Feedback
From the feedback we were
given we need to improve on
the voice overs. People
thought it was unclear and
difficult to understand and
we also needed a mans voice
as it is a mans voice for the
voice over of the original
trailer.
We could improve the editing by
making it faster and add non-
diegetic sounds such as screams
to follow the codes and
conventions of a horror film.
We gained some positive feedback
as generally people thought it
looked very similar to the original
trailer. For example, the dark
lighting of each shot and the
locations were similar. The original
trailer was filmed in the wood and
we replicated this. People thought
the shot and the editing was very
well put together and the trailer
overall created suspense.
