The Black Panther Party were a African-
American revolutionary socialist
organisation which were active in the
United States from 1966 – 1982.




They were lead by a man called Huey P.
Newton.
The Black Panthers formed because
the local community needed
protection from police brutality, rape
and racism.
They would also start to protect their
own by having their own medical
clinics and supplied free food to school
children.
The original vision of the Black Panther Party was to serve the needs of the oppressed people
in our communities and defend them against their oppressors
