Background
BIS and BIS’ Partner Organisations play a leading role in bringing about growth in the economy. BIS
Ministers each year appoint over 100 board members (Chairs, CEOs, and non-executive directors) to
be the senior leaders delivering economic growth. The appointments team are involved from start to
end in the appointments process. This includes providing frequent policy advice to Ministers,
promoting diversity, and delivering effective, fair, and open competitions for appointments.
Role Purpose
To run, oversee and deliver successful public appointment campaigns. This is an exciting opportunity
to own the end-to-end process to support Ministers in putting in place the right leadership to important
positions within the BIS Partner Organisations.
Main Activities / Responsibilities
The job holder will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
• Day to day management and coordination of public appointment campaigns, ensuring campaigns
are delivered on time; adhere to relevant codes; and are delivered on budget
• Ensure public appointments work is compliant with the Commissioner for Public Appointments Code
of Practice (OCPA) and continuously review public appointments process to ensure a consistent and
transparent approach, identifying where improvements can be made;
• Draft high quality Ministerial briefing, providing timely and accurate advice on Public Appointments
campaigns.
• Act as a key point of contact for sponsors and colleagues across BIS providing clear expert advice
and guidance on public appointments policy and process.
