VOTING SYSTEM

Introduction
Electronic voting system is an effective approach for counting of votes
could be faster, more accurate and less labor intensive. In this system we use
one effective algorithm called minutiae for Fingerprint. This algorithm can be
used to match the Fingerprint images. The Proposed system is used to avoid
the vote recasting with help of RFID and Fingerprint. There is way to prohibit the
same person from casting multiple ballots using Fingerprint and RFID. In an E-
voting system, there is way to prohibit the same person from casting multiple
ballots using Fingerprint.
Overview
Registration
Admin
Finger print module
Selection of candidate and submission
Vote counting and announcement of result
Formation of The Network
Registration
The candidates who satisfies the voter criteria, he has
to register his details with the main server’s database.
Here the candidates should give their Name, fingerprint
value, Gender, Data of birth, Address and Photograph.
These details should be stored in the main server
Admin
 Admin module is the important module in this system.
Because only in this module has the rights to access with
the database.
 Also he has the rights to announce the results. This module
has tight authentication process.
Finger Print Module
 The e-voting system will ask the fingerprint of the user. If
the user provides his fingerprint then it matches the given
finger print value with the database’s fingerprint value.
 If fingerprint matches then only, the system allows the user
to go to the main page.
Select Candidate and Submission
 This system provides a touch screen to the user to put their vote. First
the touch screen displays the main page which contains the list of
nominated parties and candidates list. The user can touch any
candidate as their selection and his final vote is considered when the
user press the confirm button.
 The information shown by the touch-screen changes in real-time to
match the voter’s choices. This system also stores the audit data. Thus
the system provides more user-friendly Interface to the voter.
Vote counting and announcement of
result
 When the voting procedure is finished all votes are
automatically updated in the database. It will counts the
votes for each party automatically and displays the
accurate result.
 Here no manual intrusion, so no error rate.
A matching algorithm for fingerprint
minutiae
 In this algorithm we introduce a new approach i.e. independent of shift and
rotation of the fingerprint and at the meantime the matching operation is
performed much more easily and with higher speed and accuracy.
 In this new approach first for any fingerprint a reference point and a
reference orientation is determined and then based on this information
features are converted into polar coordinates.
 Due to high speed and accuracy of this approach, small volume of extracted
features and easily execution of matching operation this approach is the
most appropriate for real time applications.
Formation of The Network
 The voting machines present in a town are interlinked in the form of a highly secure
LAN.
 This network is formed with the help of the Telephone lines.
 All the data collected in the voting system is first stored in the voting machine itself
 Then it is sent to the Server which will be located at the Headquarters of the town.
 All the data is collected there and it is transferred to the main server.

Conclusion
 Advent of this system would enable hosting of fair elections in India.
 Will preclude illegal practices like rigging.
 The citizens can be sure that they alone can choose their leaders,
thus exercising their right in the democracy.
 Biometric approaches should be extremely carefully deployed.
