2. What are biomes?
•Biomes are region or landscapes with specific
climate ,vegetation, and animal life. It consists of
a biological community that has formed in
response to its physical environment and regional
climate. Biomes can be classified into three
types:- terrestrial, freshwater, and marine
3. Terrestrial biomes
• A terrestrial biome is a biome with
specific climate, vegetation, and
animal life that is land base
There are 8 major terrestrial
biomes : tropical rainforests ,
savannas, subtropical deserts,
chaparral, temperate grasslands,
temperate forests boreal forests,
and arctic tundra. In this we are
going to see 2 terrestrial biomes
that are FOREST BIOMES AND
TAIGA BIOME.
4. TAIGA BIOME
• A TAIGA BIOME, ALSO KNOWN AS THE
BOREAL FOREST OR SNOW FOREST , IS A
BIOME CHARACTERIZED BY CONIFEROUS
FORESTS CONSISTING MOSTLY OF PINES,
SPRUCES, AND LARCHES. IT IS FOUND
THROUGHOUT THE HIGH NORTHER
LATITUDES, BETWEEN THE TUNDRA AND
THE TEMPERATE FOREST.
5. FOREST BIOME
• A FOREST BIOME IS AN AREA OF
Land that is dominated by trees
and other woody plants. Forest
biome have a large bio-
diversity. A great example is
the amazon rainforest. It has
many species and animals.
Forest plays an important role
in regulating the earths climate
, water cycle, and carbon
cycle. There are 3 types of
forest biomes , temperate
forests, tropical forest and
boreal forest
6. FRESHWATER BIOMES
Freshwater biomes are aquatic biomes that
have a low salt content, usually less than 1%.
Freshwater biomes include lakes, ponds,
rivers , and streams. Freshwater biomes
contain 2.5% of earths water
7. Rivers
• Rivers are large,
natural streams of
water that flow from a
source( such ass lake,
glacier, or spring to a
mouth( such as a sea,
lake, or ocean
8. Marine biomes
• Marine biomes are aquatic biome that have a high salt content.
Marine biomes contains 95.5% of the earths water. Marine biomes
are home to a diverse range of plants and animals that have
adapted to the salty and dynamic conditions. They can be divided
into 3 main types:- neritic , oceanic, and benthic. Neritic biomes are
the shallow waters near the coast. Oceanic biomes are the deep
water beyond the continental shelf, where sunlight is scarce.
Benthic biomes are the bottom layers of the ocean, where the
sediments accumulate
9. What are ecosystems?
• An ecosystem is a system consisting of biotic and
abiotic components that function together as a
unit. The biotic components include all living
organisms in an ecosystem, such as plants,
animals, and microorganisms. The abiotic
components include all the non-living factors in
an ecosystem such as air, water, soil,
temperature, and sunlight.
