This document summarizes participatory urban water management efforts in Bangalore, India. It involved: 1) Participatory aquifer mapping with local residents, government bodies, academia and NGOs to understand groundwater resources and challenges. 2) Citizen dialogues and collecting data from over 130 borewells to map local water resources and quality issues. 3) Engaging schools, communities and corporates to increase water awareness through rainwater harvesting projects, lake rejuvenation efforts, and understanding the true costs of water. 4) The goals are to institutionalize local responsibility for sustainable water use through metrics, transparency, knowledge sharing and inclusive community participation.
