2. Deforestation
• Deforestion is caused by humans who use
wood for multiple purposes. Trees are cut
down to clear spaces for farming and
building, the wood is used as a fuel or
building material.
3. Forestry
• Forestry is sustainable as long as they are
able to be replanted after felling, but often
this is not done, this causes deforestation.
4. Consequences of Deforestation
• Forest habitat is destroyed: disruption of
food chains.
• Atmospheric pollution is caused when
forests are cleared by burning trees.
5. Serious consequences
• Loss of biodiversity: The loss of forest reduces the
biodiversity because it can affect us in the near future as
many plants are used for medicine and many animals
become extinct.
• Soil erosion: in the absence of trees, wind and rain
removes the soil and soil structure is o longer stabilised
by trees root systems.
• Floods because there is not absorption of water by roots.
• Climate change because there is less transpiration and
the water cycle is affected.
