Genesis 30 describes how God uses circumstances and people in our lives to mold us and mature us. Often, God uses conflict. Certainly, this was the case for Jacob and his family. Jacob was a deceiver, a liar and a manipulator. God used his uncle Laban, who was also a deceiver, liar and manipulator to provoke change in Jacob. Conflict between two sisters, Rachel and Leah, Jacob's wives, Leah and Rachel, mirrored his relationship with his brother, Esau. God wasn't just working in the heart of Jacob. He was using the family dynamics to mold and mature each member of this family. He does the same with us today.
Everyone in this chapter sins. Isaac is physically blind, but worse he is blind to the will of God. Esau has sold his birthright and seeks revenge when his brother steals the blessing. Rebekah, knowing the God has decreed Jacob to be blessed, uses her own cunning to accomplish God's purpose. Jacob, is willingly and knowingly complicit in expediting his mother's scheme, supplanting his brother and grasping his father's blessing. Yet, in spite of all this, God's sovereign purpose is fulfilled. Man's sin neither thwarts nor obviates divine providence!
In Genesis 26 the patriarch, Isaac, committed the same sin as his father, Abraham. This chapter also provides us with a model for appropriate responses to conflict.
Most of the Mid-Eastern populations are the descendants of Abraham. In Genesis 25 Abraham marries again, following the death of Sarah, has 6 more sons by Keturah, added to Ishmael, the son of Hagar, and Isaac, the son of Sarah. Today's Mid-Eastern drama has its antecedents in this chapter.

God's amazing grace and mercy are profoundly evidenced in this account of Abraham and Sarah, who deceived a pagan king, just after they were promised by God the miraculous birth of Isaac. Their deception, unwittingly perhaps to Abraham and Sarah but clearly a scheme of Satan, threatened the fulfilment of God's promise. However, God providentially thwarted Satan's scheme and Isaac was born as God decreed.

Jacob was in exile, in the process of fleeing from his vengeful brother. After 3 days into his 517 mile journey to Syria, he stops at a seemingly insignificant place to rest for the night. The dream he had that night was an unforgettable revelation from God, an amazing description of the coming Messiah. There are many details in this account that apply to us, both as Christian believers and as non-believers.

The 4,000 Year HinduCalvinism Delusion The Bible By Design - Session 2Jeremy Richard
Calvinism. Reformed Theology. Hard Determinism. This is the major cancer in Protestant Christianity that many a Theologian have tried to combat but with very little success. Reformed Churches are exploding. Reformed Pastors are infiltrating churches and taking them over, satisfied if half the congregation leaves after their Calvinism is brought into the light since that still leaves them with the business organization and in charge. Calvinist board members are secretly recruiting these seminary-trained Pastors behind the backs of other board members and by the time the people of the church find out, it is too late.
Why is Augustine a hero to both the Roman Catholic Church and the Reformers? There was a huge, dangling thread on the sweater that the Church was wearing. That thread was pulled during the research which caused three more threads to be exposed and each time a thread was pulled more threads would show themselves until the entire sweater began to unravel to reveal the nightmare underneath. The answers that were found during this dig through history and the biblical texts will absolutely shock you as 1,600 year old truths will be revealed from under the Gnostic grime.
Christians tend to think that Calvinism only affects Calvinists and as long as they believe their nonsense over there then it doesn't affect them. But this mistaken view couldn't be more in error. HinduCalvinism affects almost everything you think you know about the bible and there is almost no subject in the biblical text that is untouched or unaffected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Thought-Provoking and Important Book!
Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2022
Buy it, read it. Then read it again. This book is not only a must-read for anyone coming out of Calvinism, but is also important for any Christian who is in a church.
For me, even just this first section of the book was amazing! If Calvinist doctrines have harmed the faith of yourself or someone you love, understanding its errors is the first step toward healing and renewed growth. As a parent, understanding the subversive infiltration of Calvinist teachings into Christian thought is the best way to inoculate your children against falling prey to its heresies.
But there is so much more to this book than just providing the reader with a solid defense against Calvinism. This book will turn everything you thought you knew upside down, from your perception of yourself to your conception of the Creator.
This is an excellent, important book, and I highly recommend it.
A verse by verse commentary on Ezekiel 36 dealing with a prophecy to the mountains of Israel that God will restore His people there and they will enjoy great prosperity,
In Judges chapter 1 we see the Hand of God bringing victory as long as His children are obedient. We also see the beginnings of their defeat through disobedience.
God promised to make a great nation from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This message explains the characteristics of a nation and how the ancient nation of Israel was a prototype or forerunner of the future Kingdom of God.
An interactive message about the worth of family, what is a family, challenges of a blended family. A powerful message full of hope and restoration through forgiveness in Christ.
A verse by verse commentary on Genesis chapter 36 dealing with Esau as the father of the Edomites, and his moving away from his brother Jacob.. Then comes a long history of his genealogy.

We are forgiven by God through Christ, therefore we ought to forgive others even as God has forgiven us. This is the heart of the Gospel. Growth in the spiritual life is often hindered because we often refuse to forgive others.
The Lord's Prayer was not taught to be repeated without thought as to what it means. It given by our Lord to teach us a model for prayer. In this presentation we will look at the components that make up a the way we ought to pray.
Are we trying to impress the world? Are we trying to impress others? Who are we trying to impress? Ultimately we can impress no one, not even God. But rewards are with God, not because we can impress him, but because he honors those that love him.
John 1:1 claims that all life is in Christ. He is the creator of life and he sustains all life. He is the author of physical life and spiritual life. Without him there is no life.
We call it the triumphal entry. Compared with the entry of other kings and generals it was modest. Compared to his future entry into Jerusalem all the kings entries of the past seem insignificant.

The greatest book of liberty is not a document or a declaration. The greatest book of liberty is the Bible. The bible presents the Gospel, the good news that sets me free.

Wrestling In A Dark World John 15:18-16:4 and Ephesians 6:12-13David Turner
As believers in Jesus Christ we are fighting against the Principalities and Powers of this world. We cannot fight with the methods of the world. We must wrestle in the manner in which Christ wrestled, in the power of the Spirit.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
2. Genesis 25:25–30 (ESV)
25 The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so
they called his name Esau. 26 Afterward his brother came
out with his hand holding Esau’s heel, so his name was
called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore
them.
27 When the boys grew up, Esau was a skillful hunter, a
man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in
tents. 28 Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but
Rebekah loved Jacob.
29 Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in
from the field, and he was exhausted. 30 And Esau said to
Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am
exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom.)
3. Esau – Hairy or rough. It defined his
appearance but also his character (a
man of the field).
Edom - אדום meaning red, is related
to the name "Adam"
(Hebrew: ם ָָֿאד) comes from the
trilateral root ם ַָֿאד(' ADM ),
meaning "red", "fair", "handsome“.
The noun 'adam is also the
masculine form of the
word adamah which means
"ground" or "earth".
Edom is his skin color, is associated
with color of the stew, but also
defines his character.
Edom is the representative of Man
in general and especially Esau's
descendants.
4. Jacob’s Blessing
Genesis 27:28–29 (ESV)
28May God give you of the dew of heaven
and of the fatness of the earth
and plenty of grain and wine.
29 Let peoples serve you,
and nations bow down to you.
Be lord over your brothers,
and may your mother’s sons bow down to you.
Cursed be everyone who curses you,
and blessed be everyone who blesses you!”
5. Genesis 27:34–41 (ESV)
34 As soon as Esau heard the words of his father, he cried out with an exceedingly
great and bitter cry and said to his father, “Bless me, even me also, O my father!”
35 But he said, “Your brother came deceitfully, and he has taken away your blessing.”
36 Esau said, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me these two times.
He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing.” Then
he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?” 37 Isaac answered and said to
Esau, “Behold, I have made him lord over you, and all his brothers I have given to him
for servants, and with grain and wine I have sustained him. What then can I do for
you, my son?” 38 Esau said to his father, “Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless
me, even me also, O my father.” And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
39 Then Isaac his father answered and said to him: “Behold, away from the fatness
of the earth shall your dwelling be, and away from the dew of heaven on high. 40
By your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother;
but when you grow restless you shall break his yoke from your neck.”
41 Now Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed
him, and Esau said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are
approaching; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
6. Esau is Blessed with wives and Children
Genesis 36:1–5 (ESV)
36 These are the generations of Esau (that is, Edom). 2 Esau
took his wives from the Canaanites: Adah the daughter of Elon
the Hittite, Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of
Zibeon the Hivite, 3 and Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, the sister
of Nebaioth. 4 And Adah bore to Esau, Eliphaz; Basemath bore
Reuel; 5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These
are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of
Canaan.
7. Esau is a sensual Man that likes
Outward Beauty
Canaanite Wives
Adah – “Ornament” or “Adorned One”
Oholibaman – “tall” or “Stately”
An Ishmaelite Wife
Basemath – “perfumed one”
By the World’s Standards He is Blessed with a beautiful and
successful family
Genesis 27:46
46 Then Rebekah said to Isaac, “I
loathe my life because of the
Hittite women. If Jacob marries
one of the Hittite women like
these, one of the women of the
land, what good will my life be
to me?”
8. By the World’s Standards a beautiful and successful family
Esau’s Sons
Of the 81 names listed in Esau’s genealogy only two names hint to a belief in
the God of the promis, and they are Esau’s first generation. Reuel means
“friend of God” and Jeush means “the Lord helps”.
Amalek was the son of Timna, Eliphaz concubine. Amalek was the father of
the Amalakites, a major enemy of Isarael when they returned to the land.
9. Material Prosperity Does Not Equal Spiritual Prosperity
Genesis 36:6–8
6 Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all
the members of his household, his livestock, all his beasts,
and all his property that he had acquired in the land of
Canaan. He went into a land away from his brother Jacob.
7 For their possessions were too great for them to dwell
together. The land of their sojournings could not support
them because of their livestock. 8 So Esau settled in the hill
country of Seir. (Esau is Edom.)
Both Jacob and Esau were blessed with material prosperity.
Esau was gracious so long as he was materially prosperous.
Esau seems to be similar to Lot.
10. Maternal Prosperity Doesn’t Equal Spiritual
Prosperity
Genesis 36:9–14
9 These are the generations of Esau the
father of the Edomites in the hill country of
Seir. 10 These are the names of Esau’s sons:
Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau,
Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar,
Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz. 12 (Timna was a
concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son; she bore
Amalek to Eliphaz.) These are the sons of
Adah, Esau’s wife. 13 These are the sons of
Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and
Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath,
Esau’s wife. 14 These are the sons of
Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the
daughter of Zibeon, Esau’s wife: she bore to
Esau Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
11. Worldly Wisdom and leadership Doesn’t Equal Spiritual
Wisdom
Genesis 36:15–19
15 These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of
Esau: the chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz, 16 Korah, Gatam, and Amalek;
these are the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these are the sons of
Adah. 17 These are the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: the chiefs Nahath, Zerah,
Shammah, and Mizzah; these are the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom;
these are the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife. 18 These are the sons of
Oholibamah, Esau’s wife: the chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the
chiefs born of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau’s wife. 19 These are the
sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these are their chiefs.
The Chiefs are Similar to the Judges when Israel came back
into the land. It happened years before Israel.
12. Additional Chiefs.
Genesis 36:20–30
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal,
Zibeon, Anah, 21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of
Seir in the land of Edom. 22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister
was Timna. 23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; he is the Anah who found the hot
springs in the wilderness, as he pastured the donkeys of Zibeon his father. 25 These are
the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah. 26 These are the
sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran. 27 These are the sons of Ezer:
Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. 28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran. 29 These are the
chiefs of the Horites: the chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 30 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan;
these are the chiefs of the Horites, chief by chief in the land of Seir.
13. Political Power Does Not Equal God’s Power
Genesis 36:31–39
31 These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before any king
reigned over the Israelites. 32 Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, the name
of his city being Dinhabah. 33 Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah
reigned in his place. 34 Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites
reigned in his place. 35 Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who
defeated Midian in the country of Moab, reigned in his place, the name of his
city being Avith. 36 Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place.
37 Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth on the Euphrates reigned in his place.
38 Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his place. 39 Baal-
hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place, the name of his
city being Pau; his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred,
daughter of Mezahab.
When the genealogy of Esau was written, Israel was still just a people of
shepherds.
While Edom was being blessed, Israel was in Egypt under slavery.
14. Temporal Prosperity is Not Equal to God’s Eternal Promise
Genesis 36:40–43
40 These are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to
their clans and their dwelling places, by their names: the
chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 43 Magdiel, and Iram; these are the
chiefs of Edom (that is, Esau, the father of Edom), according
to their dwelling places in the land of their possession.
Moses Point:
Esau received great blessing, but it wasn’t “The Blessing”.
Don’t confuse a beautiful successful family, material
prosperity, worldly wisdom and political power with God’s
Promise of Blessing.
15. Genesis 37:1
37 Jacob lived in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the
land of Canaan.
“The Blessing” belonged to Jacob.
16. God’s Grace Was With Esau
In spite of Esau’s unbelief, his descendants were given a
future. Under God they too have a story.
• Deuteronomy 2:4–5 4 and command the people, “You are
about to pass through the territory of your brothers, the
people of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of
you. So be very careful. 5 Do not contend with them, for I
will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as for
the sole of the foot to tread on, because I have given
Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.
• Deuteronomy 23:7–8 “You shall not abhor an Edomite, for
he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because
you were a sojourner in his land. Children born to them in
the third generation may enter the assembly of the LORD.
17. • Don’t be an Adam/Edom, a man of the earth.
• Seek Spiritual Blessing above earthly blessing.
• Don’t mistake the earthly blessings of the
world with the spiritual blessings of God.
• Don’t confuse temporal blessing with the
eternal blessings.
• Love your brother even when your brother
isn’t kind to you.
